The Peigan Cowboys hosted the Nanton Palominos in a special game held at the Crowsnest Sports Complex Arena in Coleman on Saturday evening, February 11.  This was the final regular-season game for the Cowboys, against the team they will face first in the playoffs.

The Cowboys gave up four unanswered goals to the Palominos in the first period.  In the second period the Cowboys came out hitting hard, "Cowboys hockey" as Coach Tyrone Potts called it, and managed to dominate the play, scoring four times before the Palominos managed to respond with one of their own.

The score stood at 4-4 going into the third.  Another rumble erupted mid-period. Unfortunately, every effort of the Cowboys' offence was thwarted, and Nanton managed to slip three more in before the game ended.

Final score: 7-4 Nanton.

The game saw several ejections from both benches, but other than that there were no more penalties than is usual for these two fierce rivals.  Coach Potts was not happy with the reffing.
"I'm not afraid to say it was one-sided reffing," he said after the game.   He said the Cowboys decided to play in Coleman because their six Crowsnest Pass players "wanted to play in front of their families and their hometown crowd."
