The Crusaders proved to be a very able team, but they were in Dragon territory, and on this night the St. Michael's girls. While the Dragons were dominant on the scoreboard throughout, it was never by a big enough margin to coast. Coalhurst proved particularly powerful on defence, while the Dragons seemed to be working the bugs out as they adjust to the new season.
Elise Wocknitz once again demonstrated her prowess on the court, racking up 13 points for the Dragons. Amanda Higgenbotham wasn't far behind with 11 points. Catherine DeCock scored seven points, Taylor Little Mustache and Kelli Potts scored six apiece, and Tamara Parking got two points for the team. The real strength of the Dragons lies in their teamwork, these girls are used to each other, and support each other's strengths.
Coalhurst's Naomi Entz was a force to be reckoned with, strong when defending, and powerful on offence, scoring sixteen points in the game. The Crusaders also demonstrated good teamwork, particularly in their passing game.
A close game, but the Dragons earned their win.
Final score: Dragons 47, Crusaders 42.
