The Mustangs showed promise out of the gate, moving the ball methodically up the field, Riley Sokownin alternating the outside run to Tyler Riviere and inside to Thane Buckingham, finishing off the drive with a run to Jordan Hochstein. Of course none of this would have been possible without the strong blocking behind the offensive line of John Walker, Austin Bruder, Jaeger Hann, James Hamilton, Shea Robertson, Tyson Malhi, Brendin Lissel and Hunter Austring. However, the defense forgot to show up for this game and the Rams seemed to score at will. Jordan Hochstein was the lone bright spot with perfect tackles executed on the outside run. Even the Rams' coaches made note to their players about the form displayed by Hochstein. The end result was the Rams winning 5 touchdowns to 2.
The second game saw the Mustangs play against old foe the Cardston Cougars. The Cougars and Mustangs seemed evenly matched with each team scoring 2 touchdowns each. The defense was much improved with Brendin Lissel, Kiy-anna Courchesne, Richie LeGrandeur and Thane Buckingham making big open field tackles. The defensive line of Jaeger Hann, Gus, Tj and Tyler Riviere found their way to the quarterback, causing the cougars all kinds of problems.
The next action for the Pee Wee Mustangs is Saturday, September 24 when they will be traveling to Claresholm for Football Day there.
Until then this is Coach Tom reminding everyone - Everyday is a great day for football.
