An organization calling themselves "Albertan's First Plebescite Warriors" or "Stand Up For Alberta - Southern Alberta" held a rally at the Pincher Creek Community Hall on January 16. Speakers including Shannon Browne, veterinarian Bill Newton, John Satink, former Cardston-Taber-Warner MLA Broyce Jacobs (PC), and organizer George Clark spoke to a small crowd, voicing their concerns about Alberta's NDP government, particularly around the issues of Bill 6 (the Enhanced Protection for Farm and Ranch Workers Act) and carbon taxation. Stand Up For Alberta hopes to gather "several hundred thousand signatures" on petitions asking the Alberta government for plebiscites on both of those issues.
