2015 SWJHAA Track Meet Qualifier held in Pincher Creek

The track field west of St. Michael's School in Pincher Creek was the site of the 2015 South Western Junior Athletic Association (SWJHAA) Track Meet Qualifier on Wednesday, May 27.  It was a warm day with a light breeze and the clouds held off on threatening showers until after the last participants had finished their events.  Roughly 170 kids from nine schools in grades 7 - 9 participated in the meet in the categories of Bantam, Midget,  and Juveniles.  The field was filled with students who were busy with the three keys of track - running, jumping, and throwing.

This event was co-hosted by Matthew Halton and St. Michael's schools.  Matthew Halton Athletic Director Randy Whitehead was very happy with the turnout and how the day turned out.   "This is both districts together at the same time at a league event to save time and an extra meet," he explained.  "Nine schools altogether showed up today.  This is a league event for southwest Junior High, and also we do districts, and because there's two districts in our league, some third or fourth place kids will go because they score high in the district.  Usually for most events there will be about four people that will be going."
