Pincher Creek's U18 soccer team was on the road again for their first matchup against Sparwood. Pincher found themselves down by 2 at the half, battled back to tie the game late in the second half , but after an excellent crossing play by the Sparwood strikers Pincher was handed their first loss of the season, Sparwood winning by a score of 3-2.
While Pincher dominated possession time and the mid-field for most of the game, two small mistakes in front of their own net ended up costing them two goals in the first half of the game. The biggest reason for Pincher's first loss of the season was that they couldn't get any shots on net, not necessarily because of Sparwoods defence, but because of the accuracy of their shots. Pincher could have easily taken this game if they had converted a few more of their chances.
Pincher will be staying home for the rest of the season including the year end tournament next month, but first they will play both Elkford and Sparwood again in the next three weeks at home.
