Pincher Creek's U14 team started their 2015 season facing off against Crowsnest Pass on Tuesday evening May 5th. Pincher was able to slip one past the Pass goalie in the final five minutes to win their first game of the season 2-1.
Pinchers first goal came from striker Liam Greer who made a great play off of an individual effort up the side of the field, lobbing a shot over the reach of the Crowsnest Pass goaltender. Crowsnest Pass tied the game up shortly after, when their team's two strikers connected on a cross that left the net wide open for the tying goal. Not much offence happened for the rest of the first, with both teams shutting down any attempt to try and make an attempt at a shot.
When the second half started Pincher picked up the pace, keeping most of the game in the Pass’s defensive end, Pincher did have a few good attempts but missed the net and had an offside that could have ended up being a goal. Pincher's hard work and pressure on offense did pay off at the right time though when a takeaway by Liam Greer was passed over to Hunter Austring which ended up being the game winning goal. The Crowsnest Pass did have a small window to score a tying goal but couldn't manage to get a shot in the final five minutes.
