On May 3 approximately 25 members of the Old Man River Gun Club (OMRGC) gathered to prepare the range for the 2015 season. The members performed tasks on the range such as replacing backer boards, removing rocks, structure cleaning, trap machine maintenance, target loading, sign placement and many other tasks to ready the range for members use.
The club has three trap ranges and facilities for rifles and handguns and was used for the 2014 Summer Games. The RCMP and Sustainable Resource Development use the range for training and qualification of their members. The Club has twice weekly Trap shoots during the summer with about 35 members participating regularly. In the fall the Club holds a yearly “Shooting in the Wind” trap shoot with an attendance of 50 or more competitors, some coming from as far away as Edmonton. A portion of the proceeds from these yearly shoots are donated to local charities.
