In a letter to Council for the MD of Pincher Creek No. 9 dated March 25, 2015 Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Diana McQueen informed council that the MD has been approved for $477,800 in additional 2014 Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI) capital funding. That brings the total approved 2014 MSI for the MD to $1,900,108 - including a $1,116,546 initial MSI capital component, a $477,800 Basic Municipal Transportation Grant (BMTG), the $477,800 in MSI funding announced in March of 2015 (for 2014), and $54,238 in operating funding.
The MD of Pincher Creek has also been approved for a total of $943,303 in 2015 MSI allocations, including $637,534 MSI capital, $251,524 BMTG funding, and $54,245 operating funding.

MSI funding is intended for local infrastructure priority projects, such as roadways, bridges, water and wastewater systems, public transit facilities, and recreation and sport facilities.
