During the regular meeting of Pincher Creek Town Council on Monday, April 13, council awarded the 2015 Water Distribution Upgrade capital project to Jenex Contracting Ltd. for the amount of $394,571.10. The 2015 Capital budget allowed for this to be an up to $500,000.00 expenditure. Four proposals were received by Friday, March 19, that were compiled and reviewed by administration.
Completion of this upgrade will see an elimination of stagnant water, increasing water quality as well as meeting residential and industrial fire flow criteria as set out in the Town of Pincher Creek Engineering Standards. Identified as a priority for these standards was creating a fire suppression plan "alongside" Pincher Creek Emergency Services and Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village.
Additionally, the Town of Pincher Creek's application for the Federal Gas Tax fund (FGTF) has been approved by Alberta Municipal Affairs. This application applies directly to the Castleview Heights project. The project was identified in the 2015 Capital budget as a potential $300,000.00 expenditure. The proposal, upon completion of the administrative review, is $24,000.00 over budget.
