On Saturday, March 21 Pincher Creek Emergency Services (PCES) responded to a permitted burn 8 km south of Pincher Creek on the east side of Highway 6. The call originated from the homeowner who requested assistance when wind conditions changed, making the fire somewhat more unpredictable.
Deputy Fire Chief Pat Neumann said that having a permit allows the Fire Department to know where authorized fires are planned, avoid false alarms, and notify permit holders if conditions change. If you have acquired a permit for burning please have everything in place to tend and supress a burn before starting.
