Pincher Creek's Midget Huskies are off to the final round of Spud League playoffs after twice defeating Kainai's Chiefs. They will face Bow Island in the final, with the first game on Saturday March 14 from 8:15-10:45 at Pincher Creek's Memorial Community Centre Arena. The second game will happen at the Bow Island rink. A third game, if needed, will be held in Pincher Creek on Tuesday March 17, from 7:00-9:30 pm. The Huskies defeated Bow Island all four times the two teams met during the regular season, by a score of 7-3 three times, and by a score of 6-5.
Scoring for the Chiefs were Jawon Iron Shirt, Shay Rabbit, and Tealson Smith. Picking up assists were Brady Rabbit, Tristan Black Water, and Griffin Healy.
On Monday evening March 9 the Huskies travelled to Kainai, winning that game 8-2, earning their place in the Spud League final.
The Huskies have had an incredible season so far. They won first place at the Great Falls Casey Cup. They won Zone 5 Provincials. They won the Spud League Regular season, making them the Spud League 2014/15 Midget A League Champions. Banners for the latter two achievements have yet to be hung. On Thursday March 19 the team will head to Kneehill for the Alberta Provincial Tournament.
