The crosstown rivalry did not disappoint on Thursday January the 8th when St. Michael's Jr. A Dragons Girls basketball team hosted their Matthew Halton Hawks counterparts. The game came down to the wire, with the Dragons taking the game 33-30 after a final three minutes full of fast paced basketball that the whole crowd enjoyed until the last few seconds drained off the clock. The exciting contest was a come-from-behind win for the Dragons, who had been down every quarter until late in the fourth when they finally were able to outscore the Hawks 10 to 6, which ultimately led to their win.
Olivia Citrigno scored 7 points in the third quarter and 15 points total for the Dragons to contribute to her team's win, and teammate Eileen Wolftail scored 6 points spread throughout the game. Leigh Erickson scored 10 points for the Hawks but had to sit out late in the game when she went down with an apparent knee injury.

The Jr. A Dragons continue to roll with an impressive start to their season and the Jr. Hawks have their first misstep against a long-time rival but hope to get back on track next week.
