Crestview highlights for November, 2014

Greetings from the Crestview Residents,

In November we did have some interesting and wonderful moments.

On the 5th we loaded the bus to go to the community hall to listen to the Lt. Governor’s speech.  The programs the schools put on were especially fantastic! The Governor’s speech was very well done. We greatly enjoyed the afternoon that we talked about it for days afterwards.

Mathew Halton culinary students invited us to come for a British Tea on the afternoon of the 6th. We dressed up in our finest outfits, fit for the queen. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the students and seated at our enchanting set tables. The afternoon started with delicious finger sandwiches, followed by some fruit scones. To our surprise we were also presented with cakes and squares that were so very yummy indeed. To top it all off we were spoiled with some lovely tasting teas from David’s Teas in Lethbridge. We hope they will invite us again next year. We applaud the students for a job well done!!

The 14th was a very busy day. Starting with the morning, St, Michael’s Grade 6 French class came to interview our residents about what it was like to be a kid and other past experiences growing up. Everyone had a great time chatting, with some stories really grabbing some excitement and deep interest to keep going with more questions. In the afternoon we were invited to come to the Huddlestun Center’s Come and Go Tea in celebration of their new renovations. What a great job they did with the new renovations. We were surprised and excited to see that our MP John Barlow also came and joined us for tea. It was a lovely afternoon chatting with many wonderful people. That night at 7pm we had our monthly Birthday Party. Chris Davis from The Pincher Creek Voice was our entertainment. Chris is a talented young man who we enjoy listening to. Even though we didn’t know some of the songs, so we couldn’t sing along, we enjoyed his wonderful singing. It was a relaxing evening with good people and great music.

On the 21st the 4-H club children came to decorate the resident’s doors. The children were full of happy energy, and the residents enjoyed watching them as they decorated. Every door was decorated with such fun imaginations that each door is different. Thanks 4-H Kids, we love them! In the evening John Adset came to play guitar for us. We are sure glad he has blessed us with his time, talent and wonderful music. We sure enjoy John and look forward to the next time he comes to play for us.

The 28th was a horrible because of the blizzardy weather. Mind you, nothing was going to stop us from making it to the Huddlestun Center for bingo. It was a small group that braved the weather to meet us, but we did have a great time playing. That night we were supposed to have our monthly Pub Night, but our band could not make it due to the bad weather. I'm glad they didn’t push themselves to come on such a bad night.

Take care everyone!
