2 men charged for sexual assault in Calgary

Two men have now been charged in connection with a kidnapping and sexual assault over the weekend.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., on Friday, November 14, 2014, a 17-year-old girl was in the community of Taradale when she was approached by two men. The men allegedly attacked the teenager and dragged her into a nearby alley where she was sexually assaulted.
The suspects then forced the victim to a Martindale home where she was repeatedly sexually assaulted before being able to escape the home on Saturday morning, Nov. 15, 2014.
Police were called at approximately 9 a.m., Saturday, and investigators were able to identify the home and arrange for warrants in the case. On Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, three men from the home were taken into custody.
Today, Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, investigators charged two of the men in connection with the crime.
Corey George MANYSHOTS, 25, and Cody George MANYSHOTS, 21, have each been charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm, assault causing bodily harm, kidnapping, uttering threats and robbery.
They are scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court this morning.
A third man arrested at the home has been released without charge, however, the investigation is continuing.

Shooting at Wood Buffalo Brewing Company

On Sunday, November 16, just after 2 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP members responded to a 911 complaint of a shooting at the Wood Buffalo Brewing Company. Upon police arrival, it was confirmed that a Fort McMurray male had been injured due to the shooting. The victim was transported the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, and has since been transported to Edmonton, where he remains in stable condition.
At this time police believe that this was a targeted incident and the general public is not at risk. The investigation is continuing and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Wood Buffalo RCMP.
Triple tobacco takedown by AGLC investigators

More than 144 kg of contraband waterpipe tobacco (shisha) and chewing tobacco, as well as a minimal number of cigars, were seized in three separate busts by the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC).
The total potential lost tax revenue is estimated to be over $32,000.The contraband products were found in September and October as a result of separate investigations in Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie and Calgary. Three individuals have been charged separately with various violations under the Criminal Code and Tobacco Tax Act:
- Ebrahim Alshihabi (appeared in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on November 5, 2014);
- Timothy Trepanier (scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Janauary 12, 2015); and
- Sikandarhaya Visram (scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court December 1, 2014).
- is any tobacco product that does not comply with federal and provincial laws related to importation, marking, manufacturing, stamping and payment of duties and taxes.
- comes from four main sources: illegal manufacturers, counterfeits, tax-exempt diversions, and resale of stolen legal tobacco.
- can be recognized by the absence of a red (Alberta) or peach/light tan (Canada) stamp bearing the “DUTY PAID CANADA DROIT ACQUITTE” on packages of cigarettes or pouches of tobacco.

All wholesalers and importers of tobacco into Alberta must be licensed to sell or import tobacco for resale. In addition, all tobacco products must be labelled according to federal and provincial regulations.
Albertans who suspect illegal tobacco production, packaging and/or trafficking, are encouraged to contact the AGLC Tobacco Enforcement Unit at 1-800-577-2522.

Drug trafficking charges in Cochrane

At approximately 2:30 am on November 9th, 2014 Cochrane RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the parking lot of the Boys and Girls club on 5th Avenue in Cochrane. The driver of the vehicle appeared nervous, and police detected the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle's interior. Subsequent investigation revealed drug paraphernalia, marijuana, ecstasy, and other suspected drugs in the vehicle.
Eighteen year old Jacob Robert DAL PRA of Cochrane, Alberta has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and is scheduled to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on November 18, 2014.

Some local residents were stunned to hear shots ripping through their residence early in the evening of Friday, November 17.
The couple had arrived home from work just after 5:30 pm and were in the kitchen putting their lunch bags away when they heard four loud bangs. As they explored their home, they discovered bullet holes. Four distinct points of entry were located in the bedroom and bathroom area of the home.
The residence is in a rural area near Graminia, South-east of Spruce Grove, near the North Saskatchewan river. This area is zoned for bow hunting only.
Police do not believe this was a targeted act, and are working with Alberta Fish and Wildlife on the investigation.
It is illegal to hunt between 1/2 hour after sunset and 1/2 hour before sunrise. This activity occurred approximately one hour AFTER the sun would have set, thus making it an offence under the Wildlife Act. Further, no one must discharge a weapon within 183 meters (200 yards) of an occupied building. Over the past number of days Grande Prairie Rural RCMP have been responding to a number of complaints from land owners about people hunting on their land without permission. RCMP want to remind people that if you are hunting on private property that you need to seek permission from the land owner before entering. Failing to do so could result in fines of $287 under the provisions of the Petty Trespass Act.
Land owners are encouraged to ensure that no trespass signs are clearly posted on all four corners of land that is not enclosed by a fence. This communicates to hunters that they are entering onto private property.

Police are investigating a serious occurrence where it is alleged that an 18 year old male was assaulted by four unknown Caucasian males in the area of 104 Avenue and 105th Street. The males suspects approached the victim and demanded money. When the male told them that he did not have any they began kicking him and burnt him with a cigarette.
The males fled the scene when a vehicle passed by and were last seen heading east.
The males are described as being all dressed in dark coloured hoodies, had facial hair, mid 20's and one of the males had longer "skater" type hair style.

Pedestrian hit and run in Grande Prairie
Grande Prairie RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in locating a driver who hit a pedestrian on November 16, 2014 at approximately 2:10 pm on Weyerhauser Road North.
On Sunday afternoon a crew was working on the Weyerhauser Road North towing a truck out of the ditch. The area was marked with speed signs, men working signs and flaggers with handheld stop signs. The driver of a white semi came down the hill toward the towing crew and was motioned by a male on the side of the road to slow down. The driver hit the brakes causing the trailer he was hauling to jack-knife and strike the male who was thrown into the ditch. The driver left the scene.
The pedestrian was transported to hospital by persons on the scene with unknown injuries.
RCMP are looking for a semi described as a white single axle Kenworth with a red company logo, a red picker and a red flatdeck. The driver was described as a Caucasian male in his 60s.
Grande Prairie RCMP are investigating the theft of approximately $5000 in winter footwear and company cheques from a shoe retailer in the Westgate Centre.
On October 31, 2014 the manager from a shoe retailer in the Westgate Centre reported a shipment of 16 boxes of winter stock, including footwear and socks, along with company cheques had been stolen from the rear of the business. The value of the products is estimated to be approximate $5000.
RCMP are looking for a late 1990's or early 2000's Ford short box pick-up truck with 4x4 red lettering on the rear passenger quarter panel. Two male suspects were inside, one is described as wearing a black ball cap.

The Prince George RCMP have located and arrested the escaped inmate reported yesterday.
Randy Ray HENRICKS was found at a residence in Prince George on Friday November 14th at approximately 9:00 PM. He was arrested without incident.
The Prince George RCMP would like to thank the members of the public and the media for their assistance in the search.
Armed Robbery in Grande Prairie

Police are asking for the public's assistance to solve an armed robbery that occurred Saturday evening at a downtown convenience store.
On Saturday evening (Nov. 15, 2104) at approximately 7:45 pM a male entered a convenience store in the area of 100th Street and 105th Avenue. The suspect approached the cashier and told the her that he was robbing her. He produced what appeared to be a hand gun and threatened to shoot her. The employee complied with the demands of the suspects. After obtaining a small amount of cash the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction. The female employee was not physically injured during the robbery.
The suspect is described as being between 5 foot 11 inches and 6 feet tall, approximately 40-50 years of age, wearing a denim jacket, a dark colour hooded sweat shirt, eye glasses and a ball cap (photograph attached).
