Crestview Highlights for October 2014

Greetings from the Crestview Residents,

October was a fun filled month, starting with National Seniors day. We celebrated with the Children’s World Day Care children coming up to sing to us. Their ages were between 2 and 4 years old. They were so adorable and so well behaved. It was such a nice treat to have a visit with the children. After the children left, we gave our very own choir, here at Crestview Lodge a certificate of thanks for their help in participating in our programs with the community. The staff handed out a carnation to all the residents to say thank you for all you have done to help build our community. Later we were shopping with Personal Touch fashions! In the evening we had John Adset come entertain us. Wow what a busy and fun day!

On the 3rd we visited the Wild Cat Ranch. Cathy Klein was so knowledgeable of her area's history and took us for a bus tour for an hour around the ranch and areas. We had the very best visit and boy what a beautiful piece of country!

Sunday the 5th, when Bente came to entertain us she also brought with her one of her university students. Bente plays so wonderfully and her student played alone and did a solo too. Definitely not our average entertainers. They were such a treat to have here.

Farley took us on a bus tour around town on the 8th. Farley is such a hoot! There was such chatter about who what when everyone lived in different neighbor hoods and who lived in others. Even I had such a great time learning a bit more of Pincher’s history. I did not know about a horse racing track in Pincher? Wow, so much history here.

Thanks to one of our own residents, Tenus V. took us for a tour around Corner Mountain. I had never been there so I am so grateful that Tenus was our tour guide. The shell plant did such a great job maintaining the roads. We had no trouble driving the whole way up and over. The views were absolutely breathtaking.

Pub night is always a fun night. Rainy Day Music were our entertainers. They always do a great job. Especially when they play the Chicken Dance! We laughed and had a great time!

On the 22nd we joined Vista Village for their Tea & Bazaar. We sure enjoyed the goodies they served and the volunteers were so wonderful and gracious to serve us. Then of course the shopping! We did fill some bags to bring home for Christmas stocking stuffers. The tea was well done and we enjoyed every bit of it, even if we didn’t win any raffle prizes. HAHA.

The 23rd we were able to take a trip to the Cyr Cabin. Thanks to Clarence and Helen Cyr. Helen guided the bus to the cabin. Wow the scenery was so beautiful. We passed Fish Lake and the cabin was on Brown Lake. The Pincher Creek area has so many hidden gems, that I am so pleased that I have been blessed to see so many lately. Helen baked us some homemade scones in the oven right there with some homemade jam too! This sure brought up some old stories of what happened up this way so long ago. Hunting stories too, as well as weather stories, like being stranded because of the heavy snow. We were treated like royalty. Thanks Helen and Clarence, it was such a wonderful afternoon with you both.

Most of our residents participated in the Dress for the Cause on the 24th. A Breast Cancer Fundraiser. We had a lot of fun and raised $135.85 for the Breast Cancer society. Well done everyone!

Our coffee outing on the 29th was at the Harvest House Café. If you have never been you should go. The sweets were delicious and the coffee divine. The potions were large and so enjoyable. The staff were so helpful and friendly. We do hope to go again soon.

Our Halloween Party was pretty fun with just ourselves. A lot of our residents came out dressed in costumes! We played games won prizes and prizes were given to the residents whose costumes were most original, the best, the funniest and the scariest. After we enjoyed coffee and Birthday cake as we had two residents with their birthdays on the 31st.

TaTa for now
