Reader objects to panhandling complaint

In regards to Kim Sutherland's letter of Saturday October 18th. (Editor's note: see "Panhandling concerns citizen")

I found your letter to be insensitive and way off the mark. While no one may come out and say it it is apparent to anyone who lives in Pincher Creek that you are speaking of members of the First Nations population who are homeless or on the streets during the day. I am so happy that education of the First Nations Genocide that occurred in Canada is now going to be taught in schools in Alberta in grades K-12. Perhaps it will give people the ability to extend our compassion to First Nations people for the the horrific circumstances they were forced to endure (including loss of language, culture, sexual and physical abuse and mass murder) - that it will take multiple generations to heal and recover from - instead of complaining that it is they who inconvenience us as we go about our day. Just a thought.

Sincerely,
Auralea Boldt
