The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance to locate a man wanted on warrants for a series of commercial break and enters.
In early September 2014, a press release was issued requesting public assistance for information about a man believed to be linked to numerous occurrences of commercial property break and enter and thefts across the city dating back to 2010. Many of the incidents involved the culprit(s) breaking into a store within a strip mall and accessing neighbouring businesses by smashing through drywall.
Robert Kelly WELLINGFORD, also known as Robert Keith MCLAUGHLIN, 53, is currently wanted on warrants in connection to 10 occurrences of break and enter and theft. He is described as Caucasian, 6’1” tall, weighing approximately 225 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes. He also walks with a slight limp.

Three charged in southern Alberta event ticket scam
Lethbridge Regional Police have charged three southern Alberta residents in connection with a fraudulent ticket scheme.
Investigation by members of the Economic Crimes Unit determined that a ticket brokerage company called Seat Crave Ltd. was established by a 58-year-old Stirling woman in the spring of 2013. The woman, along with a 62-year-old Stirling man and 45-year-old Lethbridge man, solicited individuals to either invest in the business or become clients by purchasing event tickets.
In most cases clients who purchased tickets either didn’t receive them or received fake tickets and most investors did not receive any return on their investment.
The investigation determined that between January 1 and December 31, 2013 more than a dozen victims were defrauded a total of $250,000.
Donna Pearl Stinn Friesen, 58, of Stirling is charged with nine counts of false pretense over $5,000, four counts of false pretense – worthless cheque, two counts of fraud over $5,000 and three counts of fraud under $5,000. Stinn Friesen is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 28.
Lyle Henry Friesen, 62, of Stirling, is charged with one count each of false pretense – worthless cheque and fraud over $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 14.
Anthony Pittarelli, 45, of Lethbridge is charged with one count each of fraud over $5,000 and fraud under $5,000. Pittarelli appeared in court today and is scheduled to make his next appearance November 13.
Grande Prairie residence hit by gunfire

RCMP are investigating the discharge of a firearm late Wednesday evening that resulted in police discovering Thursday that a house had been struck. No one was injured.
Last night at approximately 11:45 p.m. Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a report of what was believed to be gun shots in the area of 106th Street and 125th Avenue. RCMP have recovered bullet casings and located the residence that appears to have been struck by the gun fire. No one was injured and police believe that this might have been a targeted occurrence. Grande Prairie RCMP, along with the General Investigation Section and the Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.
RCMP will provide an update when more information becomes available. Police are asking anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in this area of the city last night to please contact the Grande Prairie RCMP Detachment at 780-830-5701 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Medical distress complaint leads to drugs, guns in Whitecourt

On October 15th at approximately 3:30 PM, the Whitecourt RCMP were requested to assist Whitecourt EMS personal with a male that was believed to have overdosed on illegal drugs at the Eagle River Casino and Travel Station.
At the Eagle River gas station, RCMP found a male unconscious in vehicle with a significant amount of marihuana and methamphetamine. The male and the female driver were arrested.
Whitecourt RCMP, partnered with Whitecourt RCMP General Investigative Services, seized approximately $2,500.00 of marihuana, methamphetamine and crack cocaine. A sawed off shotgun and a loaded prohibited hand gun were also found in the vehicle.
Craig Benson, 38, of Blue Ridge and Amber Smith, 38, of Woodlands County face 13 criminal charges related to drug possession, drug trafficking and firearms. Both are scheduled to appear in Whitecourt Provincial Court on October 28, 2014.
Alcohol fueled collision injures two in Airdrie

On October 12th, at approximately 1:30 am, Airdrie RCMP responded to a serious injury collision on Main Street at Summerfield Close in Airdrie. A Volkswagen passenger car was travelling southbound, left the roadway and struck a tree. Police arrived on scene and both two occupants were still inside the vehicle. The male driver sustained injuries to hands and face. The female passenger sustained numerous fractures to head and pelvis.
The male driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Impaired Operation Causing Bodily Harm and transported to hospital. The female passenger was also transported by Alberta Provincial Emergency Medical Services to a Calgary area hospital.
The investigation is continuing with the assistance of Alberta Health Services.
RCMP would like to remind the public of the dangers of Impaired Driving. Impaired driving can result in criminal charges, but worse, serious injury or death. Motorists are advised to make other arrangements such as staying at a friend’s place, designating a sober person to drive, or taking a cab.

On 16 October 2014, at approximately 1:00am, Airdrie Rural RCMP was dispatched to a structure fire at Rangeland RV. While enroute, Rocky View Fire Service was also dispatched. There were no injuries as a result of the fire. Cause of the fire is unknown at this time pending further investigation.

RCMP are looking for witnesses to a series of near-collisions that occurred on 51 Avenue in the early hours of this morning. Shortly after midnight on October 16, a member of the Red Deer RCMP who was patrolling in a marked police car saw a black SUV driving northbound on 51 Avenue, which is a southbound one-way street, in the area of 53 Street. The vehicle was being driven in an erratic manner and, when RCMP initiated the police car’s emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle sped up. It narrowly missed hitting several oncoming vehicles and hit the curb before continuing on at a high rate of speed.
Due to public safety concerns, RCMP did not initiate a pursuit but tracked the vehicle at a distance as it continued north. The SUV entered the Glendale neighbourhood, where it struck a parked flatbed trailer and overturned. Neither the female driver nor the male passenger were injured in the rollover.
RCMP took a 25 year old woman from Sylvan Lake into custody and will release an update including her name and the charges she faces once the charges have been sworn before the court.
Two people residing in the Parkland Region have been charged with a variety of drug related offences following a two month investigation by the Stony Plain/Spruce Grove RCMP Drug Section.
On September 30th, 2014 members of the Stony Plain/Spruce Grove RCMP Drug Section arrested a male and female during a vehicle stop as part of an ongoing investigation. It is alleged the pair were operating as "dial a dopers" - using cell phones and meeting with people in various locations throughout Parkland County, Stony Plain and Spruce Grove to sell drugs to them. Following the vehicle stop and arrest of the pair, RCMP then executed a Search Warrant on a Parkland area residence associated to the pair.
Approximately 60 grams of cocaine, $5580.00 in cash, a small quantity of marihuana, as well as other evidence of drug trafficking was seized during the investigation.
20 year old Nicholas Timothy Wayne STEWART and 19 year old Shelby Lea SANDER both of Parkland County are charged with the following offences:

On Thursday October 16 at approximately 12:50 am, Wood Buffalo RCMP and Emergency Services responded to reports of a single vehicle crash on Highway 63 at the intersection of MacKenzie Boulevard in the Gregoire area. Initial investigation indicates a silver BMW was travelling south on Highway 63, lost control, left the highway, and rolled.
The lone occupant, a 30 year old Fort McMurray man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Although it appears the man had been wearing a seatbelt, he was ejected from the vehicle and was found outside the car.
Investigators believe speed and alcohol may have been a contributing factor, however this will determined as the investigation continues.
That portion of Highway 63 was closed for a period of time to allow RCMP Traffic Analyst to conduct the initial investigation. The Highway has since been re-opened.
Wood Buffalo RCMP has notified next of kin but will not be releasing the man’s name out of respect for the family.

Two men sought for Calgary homicide information
The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is seeking public assistance to locate two men who may have information on a homicide that occurred in July.
On Saturday, July 5, 2014, at approximately 3:40 a.m., police were called to a strip mall parking lot at 2936 Radcliffe Dr. S.E., for reports of an unresponsive man. The victim, who was unconscious, was transported to a local hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Ayuen Ajak GOOT, also known as Devon GOOT, 18, of Calgary.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and the victim was known to the suspects.
On the evening of Wednesday, July 16, 2014, police arrested two Calgary men without incident in the community of Dover.
Ojullo Mark OJULLO, 20, and Shannoh JABET, 19, were each charged with one count of second-degree murder.
At this time, investigators are not looking for any other suspects in relation to this case.
However, they would like to speak to two men (see photos above) who were in the area at the time of the assault. Police do not believe they were involved in the incident, but may have information that could support the investigation.
One man is described as being between 5’5” and 5’7” tall, with a thin build, a medium skin tone, and short, dark hair. The other man is described as black, with a medium build.

The store was evacuated and members from Wetaskiwin and Maskwacis contained the area around the store to ensure public safety. Wetaskiwin Fire Department and EMS were placed on standby. Explosive Disposal Unit from K Divison was contacted and provided direction in the search of the business. At approximatley 5:45 pm, the store was deemed safe and employees were allowed to return.
The investigation regarding the source and suspects of the threat is ongoing.

Numerous vehicles vandalised in St. Albert
St. Albert RCMP
Overnight between Monday, October 13, 2014 and Tuesday, October 14, 2014, numerous vehicles were vandalised in the Lacombe Park , North Ridge and Deer Ridge areas of St. Albert, AB. It is believed that these damages were done between 11:30 pm and midnight on October 13th, which was Thanksgiving Monday. Unknown culprits broke windows in 7 vehicles that night by throwing rocks or using something to project rocks at vehicles. It is believed that the suspect(s) may have been in a vehicle and travelled through the 3 areas causing damage.
On Lacombe Drive, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Ford F150 truck were damaged. On Liberton Drive, a Ford Taurus and a Honda CRV were targeted. On Larose Drive, a Dodge Ram truck was damaged and on North Ridge Drive, a Mazda S6 and another Ford F150 truck were hit by rocks. All vehicles were parked and unoccupied when they were damaged.
Also on that same night, between October 13, 2014 and October 14, 2014, a Honda Civic parked on the street on Meadowview Drive in St. Albert, AB, had the drivers' window broken and a stereo stolen from it.
Then, overnight between October 14, 2014 and October 15, 2014, someone smashed the back window of a Jeep Grand Cherokee parked on Akins Drive in St. Albert, AB.

Police are asking for the public's assistance to solve a theft of a significant amount of diesel fuel that occurred sometime during the early morning hours of October 14, 2014.
Beaverlodge RCMP are investigating the theft of several thousand liters of diesel fuel. Sometime during the early morning hours of October 14, 2014 suspects broke into a secure yard of a business in the Beaverlodge industrial park through an opening in a fence. Once inside the yard the suspects stole diesel fuel from several vehicles parked in the yard. Multiple suspect vehicles are believed to have left the scene heading towards Highway 43 and Secondary Highway 722.
Beaverlodge RCMP are asking anyone who might have been in the area during the early morning hours of October 14th and observed anything suspicious or anyone who might have any information regarding this break, enter and theft to please contact the Beaverlodge RCMP at 780-354-2955 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The Edmonton Police Service has launched a new app for mobile devices that allows users to report a crime, and access news, social media activity and alerts from the EPS.
The EPS mobile app features:
Media releases
Alerts – will be sent through push notifications
Online crime reporting
Police station locations
Videos
Recruiting information
Success Stories
Crime files
“The app brings communication from the EPS into one user-friendly platform,” says Deputy Chief Brian Simpson of the Community Policing Bureau. “We’re able to provide information to the public about emergency situations and safety concerns in the city, and connect with app users in a comprehensive, interactive way.”
A user’s location will not be tracked over the mobile app when the “Locate a Police Station” function is used.
