Junior Girls Volleyball - A and B Dragons defeat Raiders

On the evening of Thursday, October 2, the Westwinds Girls Junior A and B Dragons hosted their Nanton JT Foster Raiders counterparts in the Dale Wentz Memorial Gym at St. Michael's School. The Dragons were victorious in both games.

The two games were held simultaneously in a split-gym setting, with the grade 7 - 8 B teams on the south end of the gym.  The Raiders B team brought their 'A' game to the first set, keeping it a close game to the end but the Dragons took the set 25 - 20.    The Dragons won the next two sets by wide margins.  Even though these two teams are young, there were some really good plays from both, and these young competitors made it an exciting game to watch.

The Junior A team players are grade 8 and 9 students.  The Dragons displayed better control of the ball being able to more consistently keep it inbound on the court.  The Dragons won all three sets, two of them by significant margins.  The Raiders did force them past 25 points for one set, the Dragons finishing that one ahead 26 - 24, the two point difference needed for a win.
