Novice Chinooks vs Blades

Joah Randall put the Chinooks on the board in the first period. Jaydon Draper showed a lot of hustle, scoring two of their goals. Maddix Dyck has sharpened his skates and showed good abilities on the ice. Lane Conley also scored for the Chinooks. The Chinooks have a few new players on their smaller bench, and it will be interesting to see how this team gels as the season continues. The team put in a big effort and showed a lot of heart.

Riley Hillaby was a powerhouse player for the Broncos, scoring 4 goals and earning an assist. Cameron Hillaby scored three goals and got an assist. Leland Gellrich opened the scoring, scored again to start the second, and earned two assists. With a number of other scorers and some solid skating abilities, the Broncos showed themselves to be a strong Novice team.

"This is our first game of the season," said Novice Chinooks Coach Cory Anderson. "They hit it hard, for a lot of the new skaters they went out there and did their best. We didn't take a lot of offsides, and that was a goal. We have a benchmark to work from for the rest of the year and we are going to have some fun, and play some good games. We have time to work on our skills. We are going to work on our skating ability, and get everyone up to the same level."

Anderson said the next Novice Chinook game is October 19 in the Pass, and the next home game is November 2 against Taber.  Click here for our current Pincher Creek Hockey schedule.

Airdrie defeats AA Bantam Rockies

Chris Davis

The AA Bantam Southwest Rockies hosted Airdrie's Lightning at the MCC Arena on Saturday, October 11.  Pincher Creek's Josh Conley* plays for the Rockies, wearing #6.  The Lightning had a visible edge early on, which they built upon throughout, to win the game 6-2.  Penalties were abundant on both sides, with the Lighning serving 18 minutes and the Rockies serving a whopping 26 minutes.  That alone resulted in two powerplay goals for the Lightning.  Rockies goalie Sean Park put in a valiant effort, but the odds were stacked against him with much of the play unfolding in front of his net.
