Upcoming federally funded Equine Welfare Training Program

Funding from a federal government program is going to the development of an industry-wide equine welfare training program.

Phase one of the project is a Horse Health Check poster that is already in circulation. The poster provides horse owners with a 16 point way to check their animal’s vitals, figure out normal baselines and alert them to potential health problems. A Horse Health Tracker mobile app and an Equine First Aid kit will be released this fall.

The goal is to be able to provide welfare-supporting materials to the equine industry across Canada. $96,500 under Growing Forward 2 program has been committed to the project.
