On September 15, 2014, Two Hills RCMP received a call regarding mischief to a large John Deere farm tractor. On September 12th, 2014, the victim had discovered that suspects removed fuel from the tractor and filled the tank, among other locations, with canola seed. The tractor was parked in a field near Township Road 552 on Range Road 160, south of Willingdon and Andrew.
Two Hills RCMP are seeking the public's help with any information related to the Mischief. The Edmonton Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Gamteysa Muhamed, who has been missing for more than a week now.
Muhamed, 21, was last seen on the afternoon of Sunday, September 7, 2014. Police believe Muhamed left his home to meet with family and friends that afternoon, before disappearing sometime later that day.
Muhamed’s family say their son’s disappearance for this length of time is out of character and they’re concerned about his well-being. The 21 year old is described as having a medium brown complexion and is six feet tall, 185 pounds in weight with short, brown hair and a wave. He was wearing a red sweatshirt and jeans at the time of his disappearance

Beiseker RCMP, with the assistance of Calgary RCMP General Investigation Section, is investigating the accidental shooting of a 6 year old child involving a small calibre firearm, near the small community RCMP were made aware of the incident by Calgary EMS. The child is reported to be in stable, non-life threatening condition.
Human remains found in Banff
On September 5th, 2014 shortly before 4:00 p.m, Banff RCMP responded to a remote area on the Rundle Range after receiving a complaint of found human remains. The remains were located by a Search Team that were searching for the Missing Person, Ralph GREENAWAY. Police believe the remains have been there for a considerable amount of time.
Police were able to identify the remains as 21 year old Michael MORRISSETTE of Montreal, Quebec. Police checks showed that MORRISSETTE had been reported missing from Montreal in March of 2013. The Next of Kin of Mr. MORRISSETTE have been notified.
Cause and manner of death will be determined by the Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office.

Parkland County chop shop busted
The Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP Target Team uncovered a large cache of stolen property at a "chop shop" operating in Parkland County. A "chop shop" is an operation whereby stolen automobiles are disassembled for the purpose of selling them as parts, to avoid detection by police.
On September 11th, the RCMP Target Team executed a search warrant on a property along Highway 16, between Spruce Grove and Stony Plain.
Police utilized excavation tools to locate a buried quad on the property, along with several vehicles, assorted vehicle parts, equipment trailers, and all-terrain vehicles.
In addition, a quantity of methamphetamine, ammunition, a cross-bow, and counterfeit currency was discovered.
43 year old Sean Michael Harkins has been remanded into custody, and is facing the following charges:
possession of stolen property under $5000 x 8
possession of ammunition and cross-bow, contrary to mandatory prohibition order x 2
possession of a controlled Schedule III substance (methamphetamine)
possession of counterfeit currency
fail to comply with Recognizance (possess non-prescription substance)
fail to comply with Recognizance (possess cell phone)
fail to comply with Recognizance (keep the peace and be of good behaviour)
Sean Harkins has an extensive related criminal record. He will speak to bail in Stony Plain Provincial Court on Wednesday, September 17th.

On September 11th, 2014, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP officers were dispatched to a home in response to a complaint of mischief which occurred sometime between 10:00 pm on September 10 and 05:00 am on September 11th. Officers arrived to find that someone had spray painted a large red cross on the front of the home. The matter is now under police investigation.
On the morning of September 15, 2014, residents of the same home awoke to find that their house had been egged sometime throughout the night. The RCMP is investigating this incident and have reason to believe that both incidents may be related. Police believe that whoever vandalized the home may be motivated by religious intolerance.

On September 13th at approximately 10:30 pm, two unknown vehicles caused damage to the grass and fields at the college by doing donuts and burnouts. The unknown vehicles are possibly a grey coloured GMC Sierra or Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab and a White truck with possibly flood lights on it.

Stolen credit/ debit machine may be first step in card skimming scam
On September 12, Red Deer RCMP received a report that a handheld, wireless point of sale machine had been stolen from the Mr. Mike’s restaurant located at 6701 50 Avenue in Red Deer. While this is an inconvenience and cost to the restaurant, of larger concern to RCMP is the possible purpose to which the stolen machine may be put. While the theft may have been a prank, it’s also possible that the machine was stolen in order to insert a magnetic skimmer that streams clients’ banking information to scammers. If that is the case, those who stole the point of sale machine may be looking for an opportunity to place the altered point of sale machine in another business. The stolen machine was an Ingenico 8200, serial #MONW82V306636469.
Just last month, an alert customer noticed that the wireless point of sale machine in a different Red Deer restaurant had been tampered with. That observation saved countless Red Deerians from becoming the victims of scammers; the RCMP investigation revealed scammers had surreptitiously replaced one of the business’s point of sale machine with another machine that was set up to steal victims’ banking information. In that case, the customer noticed that his card did not fit smoothly into the machine, and observed a magnetic strip that had been inserted in the card reader slot. The strip was not present on other machines.
RCMP wish to remind business owners not to let wireless point of sale (debit and credit) machines out of their sight. It only takes a moment for scammers to switch the machine for one that contains a magnetic skimmer; the skimmer then streams clients’ banking information and PINs to the scammers’ device. Businesses are advised to check their point of sale machines regularly, looking for wires, loose pieces or other evidence the machine has been tampered with. If you suspect your machine has been tampered with, please notify the RCMP immediately.

Water truck and school bus collide

At approximately 7:30 am September 16 Sylvan Lake RCMP along with Sylvan Lake Fire and Sylvan Lake Municipal Enforcement members responded to a two vehicle collision at Highway 11 and Range Road 15 (60th Street) at Sylvan Lake. Witnesses reported that a west bound water truck struck a Red Deer Catholic School Bus that had turned north onto Range Road 15 across the path of the water truck.
EMS attended and accessed both drivers and the one lone student that was on the bus at the time. Although shaken up by the incident, there were fortunately no serious injuries.
Police credit the driver of the water truck, who took evasive action to avoid striking the bus head on, which as a result, limited the injuries to all persons involved.
The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
Wood Buffalo Community Youth Challenge
Wood Buffalo RCMP is looking for community leaders interested in getting involved with the youth by means of the Community Youth Challenge. This program is for anyone between 14 and 25 years of age and has four components: Community Service, Skill Development, Physical Recreation, and an Adventurous Journey. It is non-competitive and designed to encourage young people to develop positive skills and habits. Participants benefit through their own effort and develop self-confidence, motivation, and life-long friendships.
What do you have to do as a leader/mentor? Simply get in touch with your assigned group of participants about once a month via email to see if they have any questions or concerns. A quick training will be provided to you so you know how to direct your participants.

Fundraising effort for mauled Edmonton dog
A fundraising effort is underway to help a woman cover veterinarian costs of between $8,000 and $10,000, after she and her dog were involved in a vicious dog attack Sunday morning.
The 54-year-old woman is recuperating in hospital following several hours of surgery, after sustaining serious dog bite wounds across her body. Her little dog, a Papillon type of breed, also underwent several hours of surgery, after sustaining serious bite wounds and vertebrae damage.
Guardian Veterinary Centre, 5620 99 St. in south Edmonton, where the dog is now convalescing, is welcoming contributions from the general public that would like to help the victim cover her veterinary costs.
Downtown Division members have already pitched in more than $200 to get the ball rolling with another $1,000 being contributed from an anonymous donor.
Anyone wishing to make a contribution can bring it into Guardian Veterinary Centre in south Edmonton or by mail to 5620 99 St NW, Edmonton AB T6E 1V2, Attention: Dog Attack Victim Fundraiser.
Background:
It was reported that a 54-year-old woman was walking her small dog down an alley near 112 Avenue and 101 Street at approximately 9 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, when she was suddenly surrounded and attacked by a pack of several medium to large-sized dogs.
A nearby male resident heard the victim’s screams and ran to her aid. The dogs then allegedly turned on the Good Samaritan, who took refuge on the roof of a nearby parked vehicle. Once the dogs retreated, the resident ran home and retrieved his vehicle, before rushing to the woman’s aid. The resident was reportedly able to get the victim and her dog into his vehicle and back to his home safely, where police were contacted.
Paramedics treated the woman on scene for multiple bite wounds to her body, before she was transported to hospital. She is currently in serious, but stable condition.
Animal Control Officers also responded and apprehended the dogs believed to be involved in the attack, at a nearby home.
Police are working with Animal Control in their investigation to determine whether charges will be laid.

The back door appeared to be also kicked in. Approximately $300 in cash was taken from the float money and damage the building is estimated between $200 and $500.
