The Piikani Nation Council has called a referendum of the membership to be held on October 6 and 7 between the hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.
The referendum will ask if Piikani Nation Members approve the construction of a hockey arena/multipurpose building at a cost of $2 million, whether the council should be reduced to one Chief and 8 councillors (currently council is one Chief and 12 councillors), and whether the term of the council should be reduced to three years from the current four years.
