The Ongoing Great Scrabble Tournament began at Mrs. P's Coffee Corner in the Ranchland Mall on Monday, September 8. Organizer Annie Steward said it went very well. "I was very happy with it, I think it is going to grow, and it's a chance to get to meet new people," she explained. The board game is a way of connecting, and improving literacy.
"It is meant to be a fun time for people to get together," This challenge is open to anyone and is put on by the Adult Learning Council and the Read/Write Literacy Program.

The tournament will be held at Mrs. P's Coffee Corner every every Monday except holiday Mondays at 6:00 pm until the semi finals on December 8th, with the final games to be played on December 15.
Participants can play one Monday or as many as they chose. Steward said that all ages are welcome to come and play, and that families are welcome. Originally, there was to be a charge for the games, but that has been waived due to other considerations. "We just want to encourage literacy in the community," said Steward.
The grand prize is an e-reader and the people with the top 16 scores will be invited back for the semi-finals.
