Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village (KBPV) held its Special Trains Event on Saturday, August 23. The day featured a temporary exhibit at Cyr School, special crafts for the kids, a book signing by Farley Wuth, and a historic railway tour, where participants explored historic railway locations via bus.
The new exhibit in Cyr School was one aspect of the event available all day. Visitors were able to drop in and benefit from the historical photographs from the KBPV archives and detailed maps of the Kootenay Alberta Railway (KAR) line. Also available all day were the children's activities, where the kids could build either a wooden or a paper model train car.

In the afternoon, a bus loaded with over 20 people departed from the museum for the Trestle Tour. The tour included stops at the rail beds and former trestle locations of the KAR line to Beaver Mines, ranching and coal mining points of interest, Mountain Mill Church, and Coalfield School. The exploration was led by Farley Wuth, the museum curator. Wuth is also the author of The History That Almost Wasn't: Chronicles of Pincher Creek's Ill-Fated Railway History. This book was available to be signed by Wuth throughout the day.
