Twin Butte Saddle Bronc rider Dustin Flundra is tearing up the rodeo circuit this season. He earned a dramatic first place win at the Calgary Stampede in July that earned him a cool $100,000. He's been to several rodeos since, with a fair bit of success.
Most recently he wowed the crowd on Sunday afternoon August 17 at the Pincher Creek Pro Rodeo with a 83.5 point winning ride on Calico Girl. He walked away with $1409.34 and the joy of finally winning the event on his hometown soil. His was the last Saddle Bronc ride of the event, and it was textbook.
"He is our Saddle Bronc Riding Champion, Dustin Flundra," said announcer David Poulsen as the dust was still settling on his ride. "How many times have you won this rodeo?"
"This is the first time, right here," replied Flundra. "That does surprise me," added Poulsen, "because you have been here about 14 times in the Open. You didn't know that horse, but she was pretty good."
"Yeah, she was really good. When I found out that I had that one I knew that I finally had a pretty good chance to win my hometown rodeo, because I have had some tough luck in the past, but today I knew if I did my part, I'd have a chance."

As of August 12 Flundra was ranked third in the Alberta Circuit Saddle Bronc standings and sixth in the Wrangler Canadian Rodeo Tour. He earned first place in the 2014 Twisted Tea Pro Rodeo Series. He also earned third place at the Cranbrook Pro Rodeo, held the same weekend as the Pincher Creek Pro Rodeo.
Dustin and his wife Niki have a three year old son named Ridge and they are expecting a second child in December. Niki is a famed Liberty rider, trainer, and movie/tv stunt woman.
