The 2014 Pincher Creek Rodeo Parade held Saturday, August 16, featured 'Back to the Future' as the theme.

The Parade started with a barrage of bicycles. These forerunners were a little speedy, so those that lined the streets had to wait a few moments for the Legion parade to follow. Members of the Legion marched with Cadets behind them, and some rode carts. The RCMP and dignitaries followed.

Chamber of Commerce President Sharon Roberts was happy with the parade. "It was well attended, float-wise. Everyone I talked to after said it was a good parade." They had a DeLorean in the parade, highlighting the theme. The Chamber had contacted a number of DeLorean owners in Alberta, and were delighted that two were going to make it to the parade. Unfortunately, one of those DeLoreans had mechanical problems shortly before so that owner could not bring his. He brought a British Lotus car instead that was showcased at the car show. "I was delighted with that, to have those two cars in the car show," said Roberts.

There were floats, cars, horses, farm equipment, businesses and individuals, and so much more.  Near the end of the parade the local Pincher Creek Emergency Services showed off some of their vehicles, including Engine #15, new to the stable.

Roberts was delighted with the entries from Mrs. P's Coffee Corner and The Co-operators. "They really embraced the theme, I thought." Mrs. P's decorated a golf cart and dressed as Fred and Wilma Flintstone driving through a modern town.   The Co-operators had a spaceship float. "We never know what the turnout is going to be. A lot of people don't actually register ahead of time."

The last truck was driven by MC Bob Westrop. He marshaled the parade, and announced throughout. As he drove by, he asked people what they saw, including "Did the little girl on the calf make it this far? Did she go by? It was still walking? Oh, brother, what a treat! What an experience that is!" Rumour has it the calf may have made detour to taste the grass at Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village.  Westrop spoke of the various events going on around town, talked with people along the route via loudspeaker, thanked people for coming, and reminded them to come to the rodeo.

Pincher Creek Chamber of Commerce

On Saturday August 16th a cheerful parade walked down crowded Main Street. Lots of horses, bands, dressed up children, splendid cars and amazing floats turned the parade into a great show.

With the theme of this year’s parade being ‘Back to the Future’ we had a DeLorean and plenty of other great looking classic cars coming out to Pincher that day showing their cars at Central Park after the parade. There we really went back in time with the Historical Society re-opening the Bunny Bar for just one day with hamburger, smokies and lots of great music!

The Pincher Creek & District Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all parade participants, all volunteers as well as everyone who came to watch the parade. Thanks for your support and we hope to see you all again next year!
