The Edmonton Police Service is asking the public for help in locating two suspects in connection with a robbery of a male, which occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014.
It was reported that a male and female were walking to their vehicle behind E-BAR, an establishment at the corner of 100 Avenue and 105 Street, when they were approached by two unknown male suspects. One suspect produced a firearm while both allegedly attempted to rob the male complainant of his jewelry.

The Edmonton Police Service Auto Theft Unit has recovered approximately $863,130 worth of high-end travel trailers and recreational equipment that were allegedly stolen and resold to unsuspecting buyers across Western Canada. Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating one of the accused from their fraud investigation who is wanted on warrants, as well as finding any other stolen property or victims.
Stolen 2013 Fusion FZ30113 trailer recovered by EPS – Estimated value $46,500
In October 2013, the EPS became involved in a stolen property file and executed search warrants at a residence in the area of Lindsay Crescent in south Edmonton. At the time, police recovered a stolen Ford F-350 truck, a Custom Weld Viper 2 jet boat, a Gateway boat trailer, and other stolen equipment totalling approximately $198,300.
EPS Auto Theft Unit detectives began a complex investigation with the assistance of the RCMP, the Saskatoon Police Service, and the Insurance Bureau of Canada, and uncovered a suspected fraudulent registration scheme involving stolen recreational vehicles that stretched across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia from spring through summer 2013. The reported thefts occurred from a wide range of locations from residential driveways to parking lots to storage lots predominantly outside of Edmonton. In most cases, trailers and equipment were given false vehicle identification numbers and registered using counterfeit bills of sale before being sold through online classifieds such as kijiji. Buyers would then respond to the ads and arrange to purchase the recreational equipment.
The EPS recovered an estimated $664,830 in additional stolen property including: 11 travel trailers, three enclosed trailers, two fifth wheels, one utility trailer, two boat trailers, and one jet boat. These items ranged in value from approximately $2,500 to $59,000. Police were able to identify the original owners and return the property to them, however, many innocent buyers are now out significant amounts of money, such as one individual from Kelowna who purchased a travel trailer for $35,000.
As a result of the fraud investigation, a total of 95 charges were laid against three men from Edmonton:
Alyn Richard Waage (also known as Alan Wage), 67, has been charged with numerous counts of possession of stolen property, tamper with VIN, fraud, utter forged document, and trafficking in stolen property.
Donald Michael White, 56, has been charged with numerous counts of possession of stolen property, tamper with VIN, fraud, utter forged document, and trafficking in stolen property.
Kelly Thomas Yates, 50, is wanted by police on numerous warrants for break and enter, theft of vehicle, possession of stolen property, tamper with VIN, fraud, utter forged document, and trafficking in stolen property. Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating Yates whose current whereabouts are unknown.
Missing 2013 Dutchman Denali 268RB trailer – Estimated value $43,689
If you have purchased any travel trailers, recreational equipment, or other property from these individuals in the last 18 months, or have any information related to these matters, please contact the Edmonton Police Service at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online atwww.tipsubmit.com/start.htm.

Edmonton street racers busted
The Edmonton Police Service Specialized Traffic Apprehension Team (STAT) has charged two drivers in connection with an excessive speed incident, where the vehicles appeared to be racing one another through traffic at almost three times the posted speed limit.
The Edmonton Police Service Specialized Traffic Apprehension Team (STAT) has charged two drivers in connection with an excessive speed incident, where the vehicles appeared to be racing one another through traffic at almost three times the posted speed limit.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014, a STAT officer on a police motorcycle observed two high-end vehicles weaving in and out of traffic and travelling at high rates of speed eastbound on 137 Avenue and Castle Downs Road. A Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and a BMW M5 were recorded on moving mode radar travelling 160 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. The STAT officer was able to pull over the two vehicles safely and without incident. As the STAT officer was conducting the vehicle stop, two off-duty EPS officers drove up, and reported that they had seen the two cars travelling at high rates of speed and changing lanes aggressively further back on 137 Avenue at St. Albert Trail.
Ahmad Sayed Abou Alhassan, 26, and Jamal Ibrahim Smilley, 21, have both been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle under the Criminal Code of Canada.
This incident follows a recent street racing incident on July 12, 2014, where two vehicles travelling at excessive speeds lost control on Wayne Gretzky Drive and went off the roadway into a ravine. Back on June 26, 2011, a 31-year-old male pedestrian was killed crossing 118 Avenue at 42 Street when he was struck by a car reported to be street racing. On April 23, 2010, a 16-year-old male was killed when his Oldsmobile Alero was struck by a vehicle reported to be racing on 66 Street at 31 Avenue.
“One vehicle travelling at excessive speeds is dangerous enough, but two vehicles racing through the heart of the community is a formula for disaster,” says Sgt. David Green with EPS STAT. “It might be fun for a few seconds, but you put innocent people’s lives at risk. City streets and speed limits are set up to get motorists to their destinations safely and not as high-speed obstacle courses.”
Police continue to intercept drivers travelling at very high speeds, and so far in 2014 there have been 248 mandatory court tickets issued for excessive speeding (more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit), and 21,666 speeding tickets issued by officers. In 2013, there were a total of 369 mandatory court tickets and 32,406 speeding tickets issued by EPS officers.
There is a safer alternative to street racing. If you feel the need for speed, take your car to the weekly JB’s Power Centre Street Legal racing event at Castrol Raceway, where you can drive as fast as you want in a safe and legal environment.
