The end of the year celebration for Canyon School Kindergarten students was held  on Thursday, June 12 in Pincher Creek. Over 30 students showed off to parents and family what they had learned, and the fun that they have every day going to class.

There were songs sung to the crowd by the young group, and  then the children each received a certificate, a handshake and some words from Mrs. McPherson, Principal Goodreau, and Mr. Dietze.

A slide show that encompassed the kindergarten journey for each child was shown.  Some of the children eagerly shouted out the names of their friends as they were shown on the screen.

The kids then stood and turned to face the rest of the audience and chanted a well practiced 'Farewell Song' to the crowd.

Afterwards there was time for refreshments, photos, informal goodbyes, and the collection of the 'paper people'.  Each of the students has had a tracing of themselves that they decorated up on the walls of the gymnasium.

Although the parents may have felt a little sentimental about the celebration, the children seemed ready to embrace the summer.  School will begin again sometime in that far-off future called September.

Goodbye!
See you later, alligator! In a while, crocodile!
In an hour, sunflower! Maybe two, kangaroo!
Gotta go, buffalo! Adios, hippos!
Chow, chow, brown cow! Better swish, jellyfish!
Bye Bye, butterfly! Better shake, rattlesnake!
It’s been a slice, field mice!

Our school year now ends, So goodbye, good friends!
