By the Residents of Crestview Lodge
During the month of June we were pleased to have Sally Turner come and read stories as well as do internet web searches with the residents as part of the Pincher Creek Library’s Literacy Program. We really enjoyed her joining us and hope to see her again soon.
Bente Hanson blessed us with again with a wonderful musical visit and brought her father along. Her father had a great visit with lots of friends here at the lodge he hadn’t see in a long time. Bente of course is amazing! We so very much appreciate her coming from Lethbridge to bring her music to us.
On Friday the 13th we enjoyed a marshmallow roast and sing along with our Barb Lloyd. The residents even endured a rain shower by moving into the new BBQ shelter. "This was our first time using the new Tranquility Park BBQ area and it was great fun!" All the residents agreed.
Our Father’s Day Picnic was our next usage of our new Tranquility Park BBQ area. The weather was a bit black in spots and continued to grow darker. While Toni Lucas from the Voice was taking pictures of the residents enjoying themselves, Chris Davis from the Voice grabbed His guitar and started playing. What a wonderful treat to have him serenade us. Chris sure made our afternoon delightful! I think his singing helped to keep the rain away until our picnic was done. Thanks so much Chris and Toni! You both are very wonderful!

The Fishing Derby at Bobby Burns Park turned out to be a great day for everyone. We had only 3 residents go and enjoy the day. Pat K. who won last year caught a nice size sucker fish, which was too bad because they don’t count those. You will do better next year. Kay H. was unlucky in the fish catching, but she still had fun trying. Marie S. never fished before but always came to watch. Well, Marie caught a 10” trout and won oldest fisherwoman at the age of 98. Way to go! Then there was the almost caught fish by our Activities Coordinator Charmaine Tienkamp. Everyone had a good laugh watching Charmaine fumbling, trying to catch the flopping fish before it flopped its way back into the water. Aw better luck next year Char! Afterwards we enjoyed a wonderful and tasty lunch put on by the Pincher Creek Legion. Thank you all for such an enjoyable day!

Our entertainment for our pub night was Black Jack. They were Fabulous! They played all the songs we know and love. They entertained us so well that we booked them for our Family Christmas Party in December.
For our Birthday Party our entertainment could not make it as they hurt their back. Hope they recover soon. Jackie Theriault stepped up at took their place at the party as our entertainment. She played beautifully and is a favorite of the residents. Jackie sure knows what the residents like! Thanks so much Jackie for entertaining us on such short notice.
