Scott Korbett was excited to present to Pincher Creek's Rotary Club news about the future of the much discussed performance arts theatre project.  At a Rotary meeting held on May 15 he said he had met with Dick Burnham, who has been looking at grants. "If we can raise $25,000 he can turn that into $100,000 through community grants, and the Provincial government. At our morning meeting, we raised $3,000 of the $25,000" he said.

Korbett announced that he is going to approach community members that have already shown support for the project. He is hoping to raise the funds by the middle of July to be prepared to submit for a grant that has a deadline of September 15. "This is where the rubber hits the road."

He said that the planned purpose of this money is to go towards conceptual architectural drawings and a plan feasibility study to present to council. "We are showing our commitment to the community that we are serious about this. If the money comes, we know there's commitment from the community."

It would be much cheaper to put money towards our paid for Community Hall -- dressing rooms and improvements certainly would not cost 6 to 7 million dollars........

Agreed! Why not invest the money into something already in existence!

I am also curious as to the research put into this project to determine the need. Bring back Valley Fair and the stage at Halton! Those areas were present at the hay-day of dramatic productions in Pincher Creek and even so, were taken down.

What we've got in Pincher already ahould suffice. Reinvigorate some life into the community hall.
