At a meeting yesterday employees of Saputo Foods in the Village of Glenwood were informed that the facility, which employs 25 people and produces dried milk, will be closing at the end of 2015. In a press release issued yesterday announced four facility closures, two in Alberta at Wetaskiwin and Glenwood, and two in the USA in New London (Wisconsin) and Hancock (Maryland).
According to Saputo's press release, "The current production will be integrated into other Saputo facilities. The first facility closure is scheduled in May 2014 and the last closure will occur in December 2015. In all, approximately 180 employees will be impacted. These employees will be provided with severance and outplacement support; and some will be offered the possibility of transferring to other Saputo locations."

The closure is expected to have a huge impact on the economy of the Village of Glenwood.
