Lethbridge Regional Police seeking owner of found money

Lethbridge Regional Police are hoping to identify the rightful owner of a large sum of money found by staff at a local thrift store.

On March 11, 2014 police attended Value Village along the 1600 block of Mayor Magrath Drive after staff located a significant quantity of money in the pocket of a pair of pants that had been donated.

Proof of ownership will be required to claim the money. The rightful owner will need to be able to identify the exact amount and provide a description of the pants it was found in. To claim the money please contact the LRPS Exhibit Custodians at 403-330-5009 or 403-330-5017.

Police wish to publicly commend Value Village employees for their honesty and integrity – once again.

In October 2013 Value Village staff found $1,130 in the pocket of a donated coat and turned it in to police. Following a public appeal at the time, the rightful owner was later identified case and the money returned.

“Demonstrating integrity is about doing the right thing when no one is looking or expects it and that’s exactly what these employees did – twice,” said Kristen Harding, LRPS Executive Officer. “On behalf of the police service, thank you for your honesty. It is altruistic acts like this that make our community such a great place to live.”
