According to Picture Butte RCMP travel is not recommended due to poor driving conditions in Lethbridge County.
This includes Highways 3, 25, 23, 519, and 845.
Use extreme caution if you must travel. Roads are very icy due to high winds,blowing snow and changing weather conditions.
Redcliff RCMP reports Cypress county roads including Highway 3 and Highway 41 North and South are in poor driving conditions, icy with snow build up on top. It is windy and snowing. Visibility is poor. Travel is emphatically not recommended. If travel is required, please use extreme caution.
Earlier today, March 20, Piikani RCMP advised motorists against driving on Highway 3 between Pincher Creek and Fort McLeod, having responded to multiple collisions since the early morning hours. "Driving conditions are horrendous and visibility is near zero in some areas."
Road conditions continue to deteriorate at this time.
Environment Canada's most recent Snowfall Warning for the area predicts snowfall accumulations up to 15 cm.
Snowfall has eased across the Jasper Nordegg and Rocky Mountain House regions.
Moderate to heavy snowfall continues across sections of the Banff , Kananaskis and Crowsnest Pass regions. Snowfall across these regions is expected to ease overnight. For the Cypress Hills region the moderate to heavy snow that is expected overnight will ease Friday morning.
This evening strong winds over Southern Alberta combined with falling snow will continue to produce reduced visibilities in blowing snow over open areas and along major highways.
