Pincher Creek's Peewee Chinooks had the distinction of being the only local team playing on home ice this weekend after a planned midget tournament was cancelled. On Sunday afternoon the Chinooks hosted the Scotiabank Threat at the MCC arena for a rather uninspired game of hockey.
The Threat dominated play throughout most of the game, winning it by a convincing 6-1 margin.
The third period was calmer and more even, with a goal for each team. The Threat were up 6-0 and it was looking like a shutout was likely when Chinooks #15 Trinity Tanner made good on a beeline to the Threat net and scoring, assisted by #5 Brandi Yellow Wings.
Final score 6-1 Lethbridge.
The Chinooks were definitely not on top of their game this time out. Their passing play was weaker than we've come to expect, both in attempts and execution. #40 Ethan Grier was notable for his numerous goal scoring attempts, and #4 Beyonce Crowshoe was again solid on defence, but the spark was missing overall.
The Peewee Chinooks are scheduled to be back on home ice next Saturday, December 7 when they will host Lethbridge 3, starting at 5:00 pm. December 13-15 they will be hosting a Peewee tournament at the Memorial Community Centre arena. Their first game of the tournament is scheduled for Friday, December 13 starting at 7:15 pm. Four teams will be participating.
