Vegreville RCMP requesting public's assistance  to locate missing woman

Missing: Deanne MacNeil
Vegreville RCMP received a call for assistance to locate a 44 year old female, Deanna MACNEIL, who has a last know address in Mundare, Alberta. Deanna MACNEIL was last seen by friends on the evening of Thursday, November 28th, 2013, in Mundare Alberta. Deanne MACNEIL was last seen wearing an orange winter jacket, jeans and a black t-shirt.

Deanne MACNEIL is described as being a Caucasian female, 5'5" tall, 125 pounds, hazel eyes and long brown hair.

The Vegreville RCMP are taking this very seriously and are requesting the public's assistance with any information that might help to determine the whereabouts of Deanne MACNEIL. 14 year old Grande Prairie boy still missing

Grande Prairie RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in locating 14 year old Braiden DESJARLAIS of Grande Prairie.

Missing: Braiden Desjarlais
DESJARLAIS was reported missing by his family and was last seen leaving his residence on November 18, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.

Desjarlais is described as 5'6" tall, 125 lbs with black eyes and black hair.

RCMP Red Deer City requests public’s assistance in locating missing woman

As previously released on November 7th, 2013, the Red Deer City RCMP is again requesting the public’s assistance in locating, 27 year old, Nicole Schaub.  She has not been seen for an extended period of time and her well-being is of concern.

Missing: Nicole Scahub


Nicole Schaub is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • 5’4”
  • 150 lbs
  • Shoulder length hair – when last seen was dyed blonde with dark roots (Color changes frequently)
  • Brown eyes
  • She has a nose piercing as well as ear piercings

Gas siphoned from Fort Macleod vehicles

On November 25, 2013, the Fort Macleod RCMP received a complaint that gas was being siphoned out of vehicles on 12th Street within the Town of Fort Macleod, Alberta. The thefts occurred between November 23, 2013 at 10:30 AM to November 25, 2013 at 9:30 AM.

The RCMP is investigating this incident as a Theft and is seeking public assistance in identifying any suspects. Fort Macleod RCMP investigate Break and Enter
 
On November 18, 2013, the Fort Macleod RCMP received a complaint that a house had been broken into on Range Road 262 within the rural area of Fort Macleod, Alberta. Nothing from the property was taken but a lock on a cattle gate was cut to gain entry to the property.

A witness saw a pickup truck speeding away from the farm with the front vanity plate that read “Jason Aldean_ Wanna Ride" on a green background and in yellow letters.

The RCMP are investigating this incident as a Break and Enter and are seeking public assistance in identifying any suspects. Anyone that may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to provide are asked to contact the Fort Macleod RCMP at 403 553-7200 or call Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222-8477 (TIPS).

Fort Macleod RCMP investigate tires and rims theft

On December 5, 2013 the Fort Macleod RCMP received a complaint that four MT Baja Claw Jeep tires and white rims had been stolen from a work yard located on 12th Street within the Towns of Fort Macleod, Alberta. This incident took place between November 29 and December 5, 2013. The tires and rims were removed from the chassis of a vehicle which was secured in a fenced in compound. There was no sign of forced enter to the fence.

The RCMP are investigating this incident as a break and enter and a theft and are seeking public assistance in identifying any suspects. Innisfail marihuana bust

On the evening of Tuesday December 3, 2013, RCMP Innisfail executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant on the 4800 block of 46 Avenue in Innisfail, Alberta. A quantity of Marihuana, drug trafficking paraphernalia and a Marihuana plant along with Marihuana Grow Equipment was seized. A 19 year old Innisfail man is facing 1 count of possession of Marihuana for the purpose of trafficking. A 17 year old from Innisfail is charged with possession of Marihuana for the purpose of trafficking and production of marihuana. Both scheduled to appear in Red Deer court in January.

Lloydminster Armed Robbery suspect in custody

In the early morning hours of December 3, 2013 Lloydminster RCMP responded to a 911 call reporting an armed robbery of a taxi driver. At the end of a the taxi ride, the suspect produced a black handgun and demanded the money from driver while making threats. The driver complied with the demands of the suspect who fled the area. A police service dog was deployed and tracked the suspect to a residence in the 4800 block of 45th Street in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. The residence was contained, contact was made with the occupants and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The execution of a search warrant on the residence saw the recovery of an imitation firearm as well as other key pieces of evidence.

19 year old Cameron CARTER-GREEN of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan has been charged with 7 Criminal Code offences including Robbery, Possession of a Imitation Firearm while Committing a Robbery and Uttering Threats. GREEN was ordered Remanded by a Justice of the Peace and will appear in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan court on December 5, 2013.

Stabbing in Fort MacKay

On November 30, just shortly after 5:00 p.m. Wood Buffalo RCMP members were called to a residence in Fort MacKay as a result of a reported stabbing. The suspect of the stabbing was immediately arrested and the male victim identified upon police arrival. The victim was transported to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre in Fort McMurray with non-life threatening injuries and was later released.  The victim and suspect were known to one another.

As a result of the incident Mahdi Ugas (46) of Fort MacKay, Alberta has been charged with assault, aggravated assault and uttering threats against a person. Ugas has since been release from custody and is to appear in Fort McMurray provincial court on January 15, 2014.

Olds area Fraud investigation results in charges

On November 29, 2013, the Olds RCMP members responded to a local business in response to a call of a male attempting to use a stolen credit card.  Upon arrival, members located and arrested Morgan Stephen WINTER, 39 years of age.  As the investigation continued documents were seized linking WINTER to other fraud offences which occurred in Olds, Alberta, and surrounding communities.

WINTER was charged twenty-one Criminal Code offences including; Section 342(1) Criminal Code of Canada – Possession of a stolen credit card, Section 368(1) Criminal Code of Canada – Use a Forged Document, Section 380(1) Criminal Code of Canada – Fraud.

WINTER has been released following a Judicial Interim release Hearing and his next court appearance is set for December 16, 2013, in Didsbury Provincial Court.

During the offences, the name of Robert GALLAHER had been used as an alias with Alberta Identification provided to victims.  It is suspected there may be other occurrences which took place both in and outside of the Olds/ Didsbury area.  Any possible Victims are requested to contact the Olds RCMP detachment at 403-556-3324.

Rayden Tilley given adult sentence for murder and other charges

Wood Buffalo RCMP report on Saturday, December 7th, 2013, Rayden Dawson Tilley appeared before the Court of Queen’s Bench, in Fort McMurray, where he was sentenced for second degree murder and aggravated assault. The Court determined that an adult sentence was necessary for Mr. Tilley, who was a youth at the time of the offence. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, with no eligibility for parole for seven years.

On December 15, 2011, Wood Buffalo RCMP arrested a 16 year-old male in connection with the homicide investigation that commenced on November 26, 2011. The male youth was charged with murder, along with numerous other offences including Break and Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence, Improperly Interfere with Human Remains, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Theft of Motor Vehicle.

A hit-and-run collision occurred on November 26, 2011, in the Eagle Ridge area of Fort McMurray.

At approximately 8:15 am, on November 26, 2011, police were called to a collision on Loutit Road between Grouse Way and Magpie Street. When police arrived on scene they located an abandoned vehicle that had collided with a number of parked cars, with the engine still running. The offending vehicle was described as a silver Dodge Avenger, and investigators believe the operator fled the scene after the collision.

Police later discovered the offending vehicle to be registered to the 31 year-old homicide victim. As a result of the hit-and-run investigation police were led to a residence located in an apartment building on Powder Drive at which time police discovered the deceased female and the injured child.

RCMP are pleased to report that the young child, injured as a result of this incident, has since been released from the hospital and is recovering with family. To avoid re-victimization, and out of respect for the family, police will not be releasing the identity of the child or naming the 31 year-old female victim.

The Publication Ban, which was ordered early on in the process, was amended to allow for the release of the accused’s name. The publication of any information that may identify the victims’ remains prohibited.

Attempted Armed Robbery at Bashaw Bottle Depot

On December 5th, 2013, A masked person entered the Bashaw Bottle Depot with a firearm and demanded money from staff. The Bashaw RCMP located and charged a 30 year old Bashaw woman shortly afterwards for attempted robbery. The female whose identity is not being released at this point is being held in custody pending a court appearance.

Bashaw Victim services were dispatched to assist the victims of the crime.

Police investigating suspicious death in Sexsmith
 
The Grande Prairie RCMP are presently at a Sexsmith residence investigating the suspicious death of a female.  One person has been taken into custody.
 
This morning at approximately 11:30 a.m. RCMP and EMS were called to a Sexsmith residence to respond to an injured female.  The female was pronounced dead at the residence.  Police are treating the death as suspicious and have called RCMP Major Crimes to assist with the investigation.  One person is presently in custody but has not been charged with any offences. 
 
The investigation is on-going and there is no other information that is being released at the present time.  RCMP will endeavor to provide an update tomorrow regarding the status of the investigation.

Smoky Lake MVC results in fatality

It is with sadness that the RCMP report that one of the patients from Wednesday evening's collision, an 81 year old female from Goodfish Lake, has died from injuries sustained in the collision. A second patient, remains in hospital in serious condition. Names are being withheld out of respect for the families.

Smoky Lake RCMP are continuing the investigation of a multiple vehicle collision that occurred 6 km east of Smoky Lake on the evening of Wednesday December 4th, 2013. Poor visibility was a factor in the collision caused by smoke from a wood pile burn on a nearby farm.

Police report that the smoke on the evening of the collision, settled over the highway reducing visibility . Driver's reported that once they entered the smoke they could not see anything including the lines on the road or other vehicles.

Police encourage drivers to remain cautious when driving this winter as weather and highway conditions can change suddenly.

RCMP Spruce Grove/Stony Plain arrest drug trafficker

On December 4th, 2013 Spruce Grove/Stony Plain Drug Section members executed a vehicle stop in Spruce Grove following a period of intelligence-gathering and surveillance.

As a result, 21 year-old Darian Christopher SMITH was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking. SMITH hails from Edmonton, and was found with 68 small bags of cocaine and approximately $1000.00 in cash. It is alleged he was conducting a "dial-a-doper" operation.

He was released from custody on $2000.00 cash bail, and will appear in Stony Plain Provincial Court on December 11th. SMITH does not have a previous criminal record.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP lay charges in pedestrian fatality MVC that revealed large quantity of marihuana

The 51 year male driver of a truck that struck and killed a pedestrian on highway 11 on November 22, 2013, near Rocky Mountain House, is now facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. On November 27, 2013, Rocky RCMP executed a search warrant on his vehicle and following an extensive catalogue of over 350 exhibits, 171 lbs of packaged marihuana was found concealed within the box of the truck. The shipment was believed to be traveling from British Columbia to Alberta. The estimated value of the marihuana is near $600,000. He is scheduled to attend court in Rocky Mountain House on January 8, 2014.

As a result of the investigation into incidents that occurred after the collision on November 22, 2013, Rocky Mountain House RCMP have laid the following charges against the occupants of the SUV:

A 17 year old male from Rocky Mountain House is charged with 1 count each of, Assault with a Weapon, and Mischief against the driver of the truck, he also faces 3 counts of Breach of Probation and remains in custody awaiting court.

Delphine DIXON, from Rocky Mountain House is charged with one count of assault against the driver of the truck. She is attending court in Rocky Mountain House on January 15, 2014.

Hysteria SIMEON, from Rocky Mountain House is charged with impaired driving and Provincial driving offences and will be attending court in Rocky Mountain House on January 15, 2014.

Original Media Release on November 24, 2013:

On November 22, 2013, at approx 9:45 PM, Rocky Mountain House RCMP, FIRE and EMS were dispatched to a vehicle/pedestrian collision on Hwy 11 approx 40kms West of Rocky Mountain House.

RCMP members attending the call encountered an SUV traveling Eastbound on Highway 11 that matched the description of one of the vehicles possibly involved in the collision. Moments after, the SUV entered the ditch, Police located several intoxicated occupants in the vehicle along with a female that was in critical condition.


Within minutes, Police also located a pick up truck with significant front end damage approx 15kms further West on Hwy 11. Police spoke to the driver of the truck and determined that he had been traveling east bound on Hwy 11, and struck a female pedestrian who was walking on the highway near a SUV which was parked on the westbound shoulder of the road. The driver of the pick up truck stopped to offer assistance and an altercation took place between the pick up truck driver and the occupants of the SUV. Shortly after the occupants of the SUV placed the injured female in the vehicle and departed East on Hwy 11 towards Rocky Mountain House where they entered the ditch and were located by police.

A 14 year old female from Eden Valley, Alberta was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS. The driver of the pick up was treated at Rocky hospital and released.

Air 1 assists in apprehension of dangerous auto thief and accessory

On December 4th, 2013 at approximately 2:00 p.m. Edmonton Police Service (EPS) requested St. Albert RCMP assistance in locating a stolen vehicle which was involved in other incidents earlier that day in Edmonton. An unmarked EPS police vehicle was tracking the suspects with the assistance of Air 1 when the vehicle increased it's speed to a level which was believed to be dangerous to the public.

Air 1 directed marked RCMP vehicles to the area where the vehicle had left the road and damaged a backyard fence. The male driver and the female passenger of the suspect vehicle fled on foot in opposite directions. With the assistance of Air 1 RCMP members located the driver and arrested him exiting a Grandin area home he had just broken into. Fortunately the home was unoccupied at the time. The female passenger was located and arrested a few blocks away.

Both occupants of the stolen vehicle are facing numerous Criminal Code charges. The female passenger was released from custody and her charges are pending. The driver of the stolen vehicle, Cole Symons, 29 yrs old, resident of Whitecourt, AB has been charged with: Possession of Stolen Property, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Flight From Police, Break and Enter and Fail to Stop at a Scene of Accident. Symons was held in custody and will appear in St. Albert court on December 9th, 2013.

Vegreville RCMP make arrest following high speed pursuit on Highway #16

During the early morning hours of December 3rd, 2013, Vegreville RCMP received a complaint of a vehicle traveling the wrong way in the east bound lanes of Highway #16. Vegreville RCMP located the suspect vehicle traveling west bound in the east bound lanes of Highway #16. There were several near head on collisions which prompted several 911 calls from other motorists on the highway. 

RCMP initiated a pursuit that continued down Highway #16 and then onto Range Road 161 and eventually terminating on Range Road 160 with the suspect vehicle losing control and going into the ditch. The driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the Vegreville RCMP Detachment. 

 A Vegreville RCMP member was assaulted and threatened once back at the detachment and as a result of these incidents, 33 year old Ross Edward Wilson of Vermillion, Alberta, has been remanded into custody facing charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police while being pursued, refusal to provide a breath sample, impaired driving, assaulting a police officer, uttering threats and resisting arrest.

Large sum of money forfeited from Edson illegal drug producer

On November 18, 2013, Edson RCMP successfully concluded a drug-related investigation that resulted in the forfeiture of $47,600 in Canadian currency.

In 2012, Edson RCMP arrested a 29-year old male from Calgary, Alberta, for breaching his conditions of release on illegal drug production charges.

RCMP members found that the male was in possession of marijuana packaging equipment and related materials and a large quantity of cash, in various denominations. The total amount of Canadian currency was found to be $47,600.

Following a lengthy court process, with assistance from the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, Edmonton Integrated Proceeds of Crime Branch and the Alberta Justice Civil Forfeiture Office, Edson RCMP was successful in having the full sum seized forfeited to the Crown.

The seized funds will now be used to fund the compensation of victims of crime throughout Alberta as well as to support government programs aimed at helping those victims, such as counseling children who have been sexually exploited, in accordance with the Victims Restitution and Compensation Payment Act.

Head on collision near House River sends 4 to hospital

Four people were sent to hospital following a head-on collision on Highway 63. The collision happened at 5:40pm on Wednesday evening near House River (KM Mark 102) on a undivided section of highway. Two passenger vehicles, a Ford Escape and a Dodge Ram, collided trapping occupants inside. All four occupants suffered serious injuries that are not believed to be live threatening.

Highway 63 at House River was blocked to north and southbound traffic for approximately six hours while investigators surveyed the scene. The highway was opened to traffic in both directions just before midnight.

RCMP and Alberta Sheriffs responded to this collision from Boyle and Fort McMurray with the assistance of an RCMP collision reconstructionist.

The cause of the collision has yet to be determined with investigators looking at all factors including weather, road conditions, speed and driver action. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.

Lloydminster RCMP seek assistance to identify liquor store robbers



The Lloydminster Municipal RCMP are requesting the public's assistance in locating the two people responsible for a Break and Enter from the Cork and Cap liquor store. On September 27, 2013, at approximately 3:20 AM two males backed a blue and grey pick up truck through the store front, causing considerable damage. The two males then proceeded to select different kinds of hard liquor and place it in the truck. The total value of the damage to the store and loss of goods is estimated to be over $50,000.00. Attached are photos acquired from the store's video surveillance system.

Olds Men charged with Break and Enter offences

On December 4, 2013, at approximately 0014 hrs, Olds RCMP detachment received a complaint from a concerned citizen advising of two suspicious males on 61 avenue in Olds, Alberta. RCMP members attended to the location and determined there had been two persons attempting to remove propane bottles from holiday trailers parked in the area. Given the winter storm conditions, footprints were followed to a hole which had been cut in a chain linked fence of a local business' compound. Both accused were then observed walking around the compound and subsequently apprehended without incident.

As a result of the investigation, Jason Todd FURLONG, 39 years of age, and of No Fixed Address, has been charged with three counts of Section 348(1) of the Criminal Code – Break and Enter, One count of Section 334 (b) of the Criminal Code – Theft under $5000.00, One count of Section 430(4) of the Criminal Code – Mischief to Property and one count of Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code – Breach of Probation Order.

It was also determined FURLONG had been released from a Provincial Correctional Facility less than 36 hours prior on a Conditional Sentence Order. As a part of his Community Sentence he was ordered to abide by a curfew 24 hours a day/ seven days a week. As he was found to be in Breach of his Order, allegations have been laid to have his Conditional Sentence Order revoked.

The second male, Jason Kevin CAMPBELL, 32 years of age, of No Fixed Address, was also arrested and charged with the following offences; with three counts of Section 348(1) of the Criminal Code – Break and Enter, One count of Section 334 (b) of the Criminal Code – Theft under $5000.00, One count of Section 430(4) of the Criminal Code – Mischief to Property and two counts of Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code – Breach of Probation Order.

CAMPBELL too was determined to have recently been released from a Provincial Correctional Facility and currently bound by a Probation Order as a result of a conviction for property related offences.

Both FURLONG and CAMPBELL have been remanded into custody by a Justice of the Peace and are set to make a first appearance in Didsbury Provincial Court on Monday, December 9, 2013, at 0930hrs.

The Olds RCMP detachment once again thanks the concerned citizens of the community who take the time to report suspicious activity when it is observed and occurring. Olds RCMP would like to remind the public to contact the RCMP detachment when suspicious activity is being witnessed in the future.

Break and Enter at Hinton Canadian Tire

On 2013/12/04 Hinton RCMP were advised of a break and enter to a storage container at the Canadian Tire in Hinton which had occurred overnight. Unknown suspects cut the lock on the container and proceeded to steal numerous from within including two large tool chests.

Video surveillance shows what appears to be a two door car similar to an Oldsmobile Alero at the scene with two people exiting the vehicle and committing the offence. The car appears to have a burnt out fog light on the driver side and a burnt out bulb in the taillight on the passenger side. A photo of the suspect vehicle is below.
