Pincher Creek's Peewee Chinooks hosted Lethbridge's Shock 3 team on Saturday evening, December 7. Both teams came to play but the Shock had the edge, ultimately winning the fast paced game 4-1.
Game video:
Highlights for the Shock included #7 Colter Kinniburgh's two goals and one assist, #14 Dylan MacDougall's breakaway goal made with one second remaining in the second period, a goal and an assist from #12 Callum Henderson.
Lerthbridge Shock video highlights:
Highlights of the game for the Chinooks included goalie #1 Wes Krampe's dramatic penalty shot save in the third period, and #15 Trinity Tanner's unassisted goal in the second period.
Wes Krampe beats the penalty shot:
The Shock were on the ball from the first faceoff, catching the Chinooks off guard at first and racking up two goals in the period before the Chinooks really came alive in the second. Once they did it was high speed fully engaged hockey for the rest of the game. These two teams are quite evenly matched, and the Shock brought out the best in the Chinooks. A low scoring, high energy third period followed, with the Shock scoring one unanswered goal.

Coach Yellow Wings was pleased with his team's effort. "They really played hard those first two periods and they did everything that the coaching staff wanted them to do. Everybody hustled out there and played their positions. The first period we could have had a few more shots on net. The second period when we came in here and talked to the players about getting more shots on net, and getting those rebounds, they cleaned up. We came out right away and really held it in their end. It's just the way things go."
"We are starting to set our lines where we have penalty killers and power plays and we have to try and keep it like that. We are running three, and sometimes four lines depending on whether everybody is here or not. We have a lot of players and it's hard to work these weaker skaters in, especially when we are shorthanded. I had a good talk with these beginners and told them that it's going to happen until we are really settled and staying out of the penalty box. There is nothing we can really do about it as a coaching staff."
"We are looking forward to the tournament next weekend. We are trying to get six teams. We have five verified now plus us guys. Everybody is all excited about it. It should be pretty interesting. Cardston is coming and that will be of one of our league games. It should be lots of fun."
