Pincher Creek's Midget Huskies put two more into the win column last weekend after home game victories over Kainai and Warner last weekend.  The Huskies are undefeated so far this season, winning all six of their games.

On Saturday November 9 the Huskies hosted Kainai, winning that game 8-2.  While the Huskies clearly dominated throughout, the action on the ice was fast, smooth, and competitive.  The score did not reflect the shots on goal, with both goalies working hard to defend their respective nets.  The Huskies are developing a trust of each other on the ice that greatly enhances their teamwork.

Huskies #12 Colin Lincez earned a hat trick.   #25 Sam Gerrand got the party started near the end of the first period with a goal. He also got an assist on one of Colin Lincez' goals.  #19 Derek Tarcon scored twice and got two assists. 14 goals and 4 assists in six games for Derek, a remarkable effort there.  Also scoring for the Huskies were Freddie Bruder and Keiran Douglas.  2 assists for Liam Connelly Engel.  Also getting assists were Chase Tymchyna, Craig Marshall,  and Zach Wall.

Kainai's  #18 Jawan Iron Shirt scored both of their goals, with 2 assists going to Brad Devine and another to Sam Paskuski.

A total of 22 minutes worth of penalties for Kainai (compared to 4 for Pincher Creek), including a ten minute game misconduct for Teagan Eagle Bear, didn't help them get on the scoreboard more at all.

"I think the boys played really well in the offensive zone," said Midget Huskies Coach Kent Goodreau after the game. "Our goalie's played great all year. I can't say enough about him."

"It was a clean game tonight, for both teams. We can't afford to take penalties with ten players." Goodreau said he was very pleased with how the more mature players are mentoring others on the team. "They are really starting to gel."

Huskies vs Warner

The Midget Huskies were on home ice again on Sunday, November 10 hosting Warner's South Country Sabres.  This proved to be a very hotly contested game, with the Huskies ultimately winning it 5-3.

Scoring began at the 13:51 mark of the first period when Huskies #16 Derek Tarcon stole the puck from Warner and quickly put it in.  An assist went to Calahan Bruder on that play.  Pincher Creek dominated the first period, up 4-0 at one point before finishing 4-1.

Tempers ran hot in the second period, resulting in the expulsion of a Warner coach and an overflowing penalty box.  The Huskies were showing off their dynamic passing game, controlling the puck for much of the period,  but an injury to their Captain #22 Zach Wall put a bit of a damper on the mood, Wall out for at least the rest of this game.  Two Warner players were sent to the showers shortly afterward.  A beautiful Huskies effort with 1:33 remaining in the period brought the score to 5-2 Huskies.  Derek Tarcon scored that one, ably assisted by Blair Goodreau and Jared Koentges.  Hat trick for Tarcon.  Last goal of the game for the Huskies.  Warner was big on hits but short on shots this period.  Warner scored with 59.7 seconds left in the period, the score sitting at 5-2 Huskies at the buzzer.

Both teams looked a bit tired in the third period, plenty of missed chances all around.  Warner managed a goal with 8:21 left in the game.  The Huskies held them off for the rest of the period to win the game 5-3.

Derek Tarcon scored three goals for the Huskies and #22 Captain Zach Wall scored the other two.  Assists went to Callahan Bruder, Freddie Bruder, Colin Lincez, Chase Tymchyna, Blair Goodreau, Jared Koentges, and one I couldn't figure out... help me out if you know.

Upcoming: The Midget Huskies have another home game scheduled against Coaldale for next Friday evening, starting at 8:00 pm at Pincher Creek's Memorial Community Centre arena.
