The Pincher Creek Hospital entrance and waiting room looked a little different this week. The great interdepartmental pumpkin carving contest entrants have been on display awaiting Mayor Don Anderberg to officiate the final judging.
Each department was welcome to enter as many carved or decorated pumpkins as they wanted. Each pumpkin was numbered for blind voting from the public. The Mayor chose the winning entry and the other prizes were given out by popular vote. Site Manager Jordan Koch was delighted that there was good turnout for both the carving and the voting.

There were carved pumpkins, flowerpot pumpkins, pumpkins that were ill. There was even one transmogrifying pumpkin that looked like a pumpkin, but was actually a cake. "It must be very good for moral," said Anderberg. He was impressed at the level of creativity and skill that went into the entries and thanked the Hospital for inviting him to be a part of their event.
