Crestview Highlights November 14, 2013

Legion and Cadets at Crestview on Remembrance Day

Greetings from the Residents of Crestview,

So far we have had a very happy November and we are still not done yet. Our Pub Night near the end of October was very fun; we had Phil Lethbridge along with Peter and Charlotte Ogloff come to entertain us.  They always play our favorite songs that we can all sing along to, and they always stay a bit to visit with us too.  We do hope to be able to see more of them, as we just love them!

TV Bingo is going smoothly on account of the efforts of Gerda N.  She is one of our residents that volunteered to make it TV Bingo happen for the guys and gals of Crestview. Thanks so much for your help Gerda!

Our Halloween Party was a lot of fun.  We played some games, won prizes and had a costume contest.  After all that, we had the Orange Blossom Express play and entertain us for the afternoon.  We have been so lucky to have great entertainment come to us here at Crestview. We sang along, some danced and we enjoyed cake and coffee with the band afterward. It turned out to be a great afternoon!

On November 7th the Legion members of Pincher Creek along with the Cadets from Pincher Creek, came to provide a Memorial service for us.  That was wonderful for those who are not able to get out to the Remembrance Day Service at the Community Hall; we greatly appreciate the time they take to come see us each year. The residents helped put together some posters of past and present Canadian Military members; we can display them with pride.

For the Remembrance Day Service on, November 11th, only a few residents were able to ride the bus and attend the service.  One of our residents who attended the service was Fritz H, he presented the wreath on behalf of Crestview Lodge.

On the 7th of November we had a special treat, Bente Hanson was here to visit one of our residents. Bente blew us away with how wonderfully she played, she played so fast and smoothly we felt like we were in a fancy music theater.  In the afternoon while the Legion members were still here, Bente came back and played some more. What a tremendously talented lady!
