On November 22, 2013 members of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) elected Grande Prairie City Councillor Helen Rice as their new President, succeeding the retiring Linda McCullough (Sloan) of Edmonton.
President Rice announces the 2013-2014 AUMA Board of Directors, following elections held at the Association’s Annual Convention and Trade Show.
The AUMA President is elected annually, the other members of the 15-member Board serve two-year terms. The Executive Committee is made up of the President and five elected Vice-Presidents representing the cities of Calgary and Edmonton as well as Cities under 500,000, Towns, Villages and Summer Villages.
Changes* for this year include the new President, and five new Directors of the Board: Red Deer Councillor Buck Buchanan was elected to represent Cities under 500,000; Morinville Mayor Lisa Holmes was elected Director Towns East; Mayor Maryann Chichak of Whitecourt was elected to fill a one-year term in a by-election for Towns West; and Sundance Beach Summer Village Mayor Peter Pellett was acclaimed as Director Villages. Councillor Tony Caterina was appointed to the Board by the City of Edmonton.
