Lights out! Cement truck damages power line in Pincher Creek

A power outage affected most of the town of Pincher Creek, starting at approximately 1:10 pm today September 5.

Emergency Services Chief Dave Cox said that the power outage happened due to a cement pump coming in contact with a power line close to the intersection of Main Street and Waterton Avenue.

Pincher Creek Emergency Services responded to the scene with an ambulance and fire truck.  They stayed on site until any danger from the the downed line was dealt with.   Fortis worked on restoring power. Volker Stevin assisted and set up a four way stop at the intersection.

According to Pincher Creek Fortis Communications Manager Alana Antonelli the outage affected approximately 2,500 customers in the area.  The Fortis crew had power returned to all but approximately 100 people by 2:05 pm by switching lines. They are working to restore  power to the remaining affected area as soon as possible.

No one was injured in the incident.
