Greetings from the residents of Crestview,

This past month has been delightful and busy. On Aug 15th we took a trip down to Glenwood Cheese Museum and Ice Cream Parlor; wow a delicious selection of ice cream. Some of us went outside of our safe vanilla flavor and tried flavors like New York Cheese Cake, Double Chocolate and Mint Chocolate Chip.  After the very enjoyable, very large portions of ice cream we looked at all the old machinery and pictures they had there of the original cheese factory.  For some of us it was a trip down memory lane and we shared great stories together.

Pub Night on Friday is always a good time. On this night we had Barb L. our Administrative Assistant brought her karaoke machine in for us and sang great songs that we could all follow along to.

Crestview Lodge float, 2013 Pincher Creek Parade
August 17th as we were getting ready for the parade, we watched Gordon Johnson getting his team of horses ready to be hitched up to our float. It was nice to watch how he backed them up so nice and they were so calm. Gordon and his wife donated their time and brought their team down from Claresholm to pull our float for us.  Frank Zieffle from the Twin Butte area donated the wagon for us to use and decorate, he also put us in touch with the Johnsons.  The Crestview float had 10 resident’s riding on it, with Charmaine and her family walking beside the float dressed up in 1900’s bathing suits made by, Dolly Toney and Betty Heppner. A very big thank you to all who helped and volunteered; we won 2nd prize for team of horses float!

August 22nd was our annual Family BB-Q here at Crestview Lodge.  Approximately 150 people attended the event. The event went very smoothly as everyone was patient and enjoyed the huge buffet that was spread out before us. One of our residents John C. sang a hymn and said grace to begin our fabulous dinner that everyone worked so hard to make.  A big Thanks to all the Volunteers and staff that worked so well together and made everything happen without a hitch!

September is starting out slow, a much needed break, which is probably a good thing since last week was a whirl wind of excitement.

The Mennonite Singers came to entertain us on Sept.10th .The precious song birds sure do warm our hearts as they sing. Absolutely a wonderfully talented group. We are blessed they come to visit us each month.

Coming up is the Heritage Acres Fall Fair so look for us there.  We will be selling our crafts the residents work hard on.  Hope to see you there!

Ta Ta for Now
