The Town of Pincher Creek Economic Development Committee invited Alberta Innovates Technology Futures (AITF) Technology Development Advisor Bill Halley to speak on September 26.

Halley explained more about the AITF and the Regional Innovation Network of Southern Alberta. They try to identify entrepreneurs from individuals to medium sized businesses with ideas in the field of technology. They then assist in the process of taking an idea or innovation through research and development to commercialization. They offer this service free of charge.

AITF offers support through access to programs to help develop competitive products and services. Because of the wide range of partnerships and knowledge base that they have developed they are also capable of referring a client to another organization better suited to meet the needs of that individual.

"The top 10 tech jobs in 2010 didn't exist in 2004," Halley said, emphasizing how quickly innovation is changing in the world. "We encourage and support the entrepreneurial culture."

Halley wants to meet with people with technological ideas, and the will to take those ideas to market. "It excites me, all the ideas that people have," said Halley. He invites those that fit this description to contact him if they feel they need help getting to the next step in their plan.
