Members of Matthew Halton High School Graduating Class 2014 were on hand to serve the crowds that arrived at Ranchland Mall after the parade for the annual post-parade fundraiser.  The grad class volunteers served beef on a bun, hot dogs, and cold drinks to the throng.

"It was a great idea, and loads of fun," said T.J., a Halton student volunteer who worked the hot dog area with Kyle.  Justin and Mikey manned the drinks table, and there was a host of others helping with serving, setup and cleaning.

"It was excellent, and a great opportunity," said volunteer Pam Madsen, who was volunteering with her son Kyle.  A number of the the upcoming grads expressed their appreciation to kick off their fundraising efforts early.

"It's wonderful to have co-operation in a community," said Pincher Creek Co-op Manager David Crowell, who expressed his gratitude that the grad class was so involved in the day.

Over 450 people came out to support the cause, eat some lunch, and enjoy the entertainment supplied by two members of the Canadian Stiltwalkers of Canada.

A tall order at Mrs. P's
Jayne Waldon and Sharon Mellott have 20 years of stilt walking experience between them.  Mellott started in 2001 as a volunteer in the World Games.  "I thought it looked cool," said Waldon.  "Now it's my life!"

The two reached a dizzying height of approximately 9'7" and were dressed as belly dancers at this event and during the parade.

Now that's a high five!

"We have over 20 costumes to choose from," said Waldon.  The two have performed at parades, parties, trade shows and street performances as well as other venues.  There is approximately a dozen members in their troupe, and although they mainly perform in western Canada members have traveled to China to display their pageantry.  They both agreed that what they like best is the reaction of the people, especially children.  "The kids are the most fun.  They're where it's at," said Mellott.
