Greetings from Crestview,
Wow, we have participated in a lot of activities since the first of August. We started off the month by taking a trip to Lundbreck to Windsor Centre, the drive out was pleasant and then we played Horse Races with the members there that day. As usual some of our horses were fast that day and some were not!
On Friday we got out our new game donated by Farley; “School House Trivia”. Charmaine quizzed us on all our knowledge about the school houses. It was very enjoyable, we learned a lot about the School Houses that were in the Pincher Creek district and we were able to add some stories, as some of us attended these schools; it was really quite interesting.
We went Co-op and Town Shopping on the 6th. Charmaine loaded those of us that like to get out’n about, pick up items we are in need of, and visit with people we meet along the way and off we went. It is nice to leave the driving to someone else as capable as Boyd. We did not use up all our time our shopping and had some time before lunch so, Boyd took us on a little tour of Pincher Creek so that we could view some of the yards that people have planted ever so nicely.
On the 7th we went on an enjoyable drive to Waterton National Park, we got to see the country side and how lush it is right now. Watch as the ranchers cut down their hay and all the bales that are out in the fields. We watched while they worked and thought about how it used to be! When we arrived in Waterton, my word, it was busy, there were a lot of people in Waterton that particular day; the Park was a bustle with them. We had plans to attend the Waterton Opera House along with residents of Vista Village. We had a wonderful afternoon visiting with our friends, eating lunch and listening to the music performed by Josh Cockerill. Josh is a young fellow who composes and performs his own music.
When we don’t go on outings we either play some games out of doors or when the weather is poor we move our activities back indoors and improvise with a game of Shuffle Bowling etc.
We had a cribbage afternoon on the 9th and even had two guests join in the fun, we have not played that much crib for a while.
On the 12th was Historical Hour with Farley he brought some Beaver Books from the museum for us to look at, as well as, an old map of the Town of Pincher Creek. We are purchasing one of Farley’s books to place in our library here at Crestview Lodge – “Prairie Grass to Mountain Pass”.
Once a month we have our Resident General Meeting. We discuss items that come up at the Lodge, find out what is going on and what activities have been planned in the near future. At our meeting on the 13th we finalized some of the plans for the Parade this year.
Later on Tuesday we had our first choir practice. We have started our own little choir here at Crestview for those of us that like to sing. I think it will be very enjoyable, maybe we will get good enough to perform for you someday!
The Mennonite Singers have been coming to entertain us for several years now. They have such lovely voices and we always enjoy the evenings they come.
Well that brings us to the 14th. Today we were supposed to have Nail Care by Liz. Liz is one of the wonderful volunteers who come in to light up our lives. Liz as you probably guessed assists with the care of our fingernails, she has us soak our nails and she does a pedicure with some of us. We missed her today, she was unable to make it, but has rescheduled for the end of the month.
Isn’t that Taber corn good? We have really been enjoying it, we have had corn at three of our meals so far and look forward to more. Thank you to our Kitchen Staff for adjusting their menus and cooking us Taber corn while it is fresh.
Last, but not least we have three birthday celebrants this month. A very Happy Birthday to John S, Marie S, and Kay H. May you stay healthy and celebrate many more.
