The 4th Annual Pincher Creek Family Street Dance took place August 16 in the park behind Town Hall from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. This was a new venue for the event. Previously it was held between the Provincial Building and 7-11.
Many parents that have been attending the street dance yearly said that they really liked the new venue. "I come because it's a safe, wholesome environment," said Billi Rigaux who has attended for years. She really thought the change in where it was held was an improvement. "Having it here is great. I teach my kid to stay off the road, and then I would bring her to the dance and had to tell her it's okay to be on the street today, but don't go past the barriers. This is way better."

Organizer Caitlin Kerr was excited about the event. "There is so much we have planned, and everyone has been great. I had a lot of volunteers and community support. We just try to make it better every time." By 7:30 pm over 100 kids had arrived and were there to have fun. They found it.
There was a lot of activity everywhere you looked but enough room that nothing was crowded. As well as the playground equipment there was a bouncy tent, face painting, Papa Joe the Clown working his balloon magic, airbrush tattoos, shaved ice, and various crafts.

Group Group Youth (GGY) ran a concession, there were volunteers busy painting faces, and DJ Shad from Sound Barrier kept the kids busy with games and challenges. He had hula hoop contests, running games, dance contests including Gangnam Style and the Limbo that were very popular. "I make it up as I go," he said. He kept the kids engaged and entertained and by the end of the evening many of his contestants were exhausted but had a fist full of prize tickets to redeem at local merchants.

Volunteer bouncy tent attendants Erica and Jessie were having fun while making sure the kids played safe. "It's awesome," said Erica. "It's been great watching them have so much fun," Jessie added.

Kids danced, played, bounced, ate, ran and visited while many of the adults sat and watched, wandered with them or visited with friends. Some kids were with family, some were deemed old enough to go on their own or with friends and kids were excited and happy everywhere you looked. "I made it over there, I had fun!" said four year old Catriona about her necklace lei made at the craft table with Chanelle.

It was a time of festivity and joy. The evening wound down and most of the kids went home with smiles after having hours of fun. I think any parent would say that was a success.
