RCMP lay Assault with a Weapon and Unlawful Confinement charges in Barons incident

Yesterday, July 18, 2013 Picture Butte RCMP responded to a complaint of a Assault with a weapon, and unlawful confinement, in the small community of Barons, Alberta. Barons is located 40 kilometers North West of Lethbridge on Highway 23.

Picture Butte RCMP, Vulcan RCMP and Lethbridge RCMP attended the location of the occurrence. Upon arrival, police observed a male bleeding from his left shoulder from a single stab wound. Ambulance was dispatched to attend to his injuries. Investigation revealed the male victim had been stabbed in the shoulder and a female victim had been locked in the residence and not allowed to leave by the accused.

Police arrested the accused without incident and he was held in custody overnight.

The accused, 56 year old Joseph Vallee of Barons has been charged with 4 Criminal Code Charges. Vallee is to appear in Lethbridge Provincial court this morning for a bail hearing.

The victim has sought medical attention for his non life threatening injuries.
