A huge hail storm in northwest Taber yesterday (read `Freak hail storm strikes Taber') was the precursor to similar events today, July 6.

Earlier today Environment Canada issued storm warnings for much of southern Alberta.  In the town of Pincher Creek there was some rain and a brief hail storm this evening.

The Village of Stirling (located southeast of Lethbridge) wasn't as lucky.  It hit with a hail storm at about 7:30 pm this evening, which lasted about 15 minutes according to Stirling resident Phena Workman.  As you can see by her photos that accompany this article, the size of the hail was significant.

"It was scary," she said, understandably.  "Stripped our trees half bare and you could hear it coming. Could hear the roar."

The aftermath from Taber's hail storm yesterday evening was still evident this afternoon in some northwest neighbourhoods, according to people leaving the town at the conclusion of the Southern Alberta Southern Games.

Reader Jos J said the water on 56th Street in Taber was "up to the sidewalks" following yesterday's storm.

Similar hail storms were reported today in Airdrie, New Mexico, and Lethbridge.
