Beaver Mines fundraiser raises over $4000 for High River flood victims

Beaver Mines Store held a parking lot party on Friday evening July 26 as a fundraiser for victims of the recent flooding in High River.  Hot dogs, beans, and ice cream were on the menu, the weather was beautiful, and about 120 people attended the event.  They visited with friends, neighbours, and strangers while being entertained by Clarkville's Kevin "Tennessee" Stover and Lethbridge's Alyssa McQuaid.  Stover donated 100% of sales at the event of his CD 'Voice of the Common Man' towards the cause.

Yvonne Martinez also entertained the crowd,  performing her song 'Rain Rain Go Away' about the High River flood.  Here's a video of that song:

The event raised over $4000.00.

Rebecca Holand bought the Beaver Mines General Store 7 years ago and had a BBQ as part of the grand opening back then.  "The High River Flood gave us the impetus to hold one again," said Holand. "Everything that is collected from this goes to High River flood relief,"  she explained.  Coporate, business, individual and community sponsors have covered the costs of the event.   "People are amazing. The community has really come together."
